They removed the altars in Jerusalem; they also removed all the incense altars and threw them into the Kidron Valley.

Wisdom is better than weapons of war, but one sinner can destroy much that is good.

He eliminated the high places, smashed the sacred pillars to bits, and cut down the Asherah pole. He also demolished the bronze serpent that Moses had made, for up to that time the Israelites had been offering incense to it; it was called Nehushtan.

I will remove those who worship the stars in the sky from their rooftops, those who swear allegiance to the LORD while taking oaths in the name of their‘ king,’

He eliminated the pagan priests whom the kings of Judah had appointed to offer sacrifices on the high places in the cities of Judah and in the area right around Jerusalem.( They offered sacrifices to Baal, the sun god, the moon god, the constellations, and all the stars in the sky.)He removed the Asherah pole from the LORD’s temple and took it outside Jerusalem to the Kidron Valley, where he burned it. He smashed it to dust and then threw the dust in the public graveyard.

When you look up to the sky and see the sun, moon, and stars– the whole heavenly creation– you must not be seduced to worship and serve them, for the LORD your God has assigned them to all the people of the world.

The Israelites did evil before the LORD by worshiping the Baals.They abandoned the LORD God of their ancestors who brought them out of the land of Egypt. They followed other gods– the gods of the nations who lived around them. They worshiped them and made the LORD angry.They abandoned the LORD and worshiped Baal and the Ashtars.

Hezekiah is the one who eliminated the LORD’s high places and altars and then told Judah and Jerusalem,“ At one altar you must worship and offer sacrifices.”

They even built for themselves high places, sacred pillars, and Asherah poles on every high hill and under every green tree.

Their children are always thinking about their altars and their sacred poles dedicated to the goddess Asherah, set up beside the green trees on the high hills

They will be spread out and exposed to the sun, the moon and the stars. These are things they adored and served, things to which they paid allegiance, from which they sought guidance, and worshiped. The bones of these people will never be regathered and reburied. They will be like manure used to fertilize the ground.

But God turned away from them and gave them over to worship the host of heaven, as it is written in the book of the prophets:‘ It was not to me that you offered slain animals and sacrifices forty years in the wilderness, was it, house of Israel?

Who knows if he will be a wise man or a fool? Yet he will be master over all the fruit of my labor for which I worked so wisely on earth! This also is futile!

He removed from the entrance to the LORD’s temple the statues of horses that the kings of Judah had placed there in honor of the sun god.( They were kept near the room of Nathan Melech the eunuch, which was situated among the courtyards.) He burned up the chariots devoted to the sun god.

He followed in the footsteps of the kings of Israel; he also made images of the Baals.He offered sacrifices in the Valley of Ben-Hinnom and passed his sons through the fire, a horrible sin practiced by the nations whom the LORD drove out before the Israelites.He offered sacrifices and burned incense on the high places, on the hills, and under every green tree.
