And when he prayed to him, the Lord was moved by his entreaty and listened to his plea; so he brought him back to Jerusalem and to his kingdom. Then Manasseh knew that the Lord is God.

Manasseh prayed to him. When he did, the Lord felt sorry for him. He answered his prayer. The Lord brought Manasseh back to Jerusalem and his kingdom. Then Manasseh knew that the Lord is God.

When he prayed to the LORD, the LORD responded to him and answered favorably his cry for mercy. The LORD brought him back to Jerusalem to his kingdom. Then Manasseh realized that the LORD is the true God.

They cried out to God during the battle, and he answered their prayer because they trusted in him. So the Hagrites and all their allies were defeated.

So we fasted and earnestly prayed that our God would take care of us, and he heard our prayer.

You will be driven from human society, and you will live in the fields with the wild animals. You will eat grass like a cow, and you will be drenched with the dew of heaven. Seven periods of time will pass while you live this way, until you learn that the Most High rules over the kingdoms of the world and gives them to anyone he chooses.

“ Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you.For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened.

“ Be still, and know that I am God! I will be honored by every nation. I will be honored throughout the world.”

And this is the way to have eternal life— to know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, the one you sent to earth.

You ate no bread and drank no wine or other alcoholic drink, but he provided for you so you would know that he is the Lord your God.

The king’s heart is like a stream of water directed by the Lord; he guides it wherever he pleases.

He whispers in their ears and terrifies them with warnings.He makes them turn from doing wrong; he keeps them from pride.He protects them from the grave, from crossing over the river of death.“ Or God disciplines people with pain on their sickbeds, with ceaseless aching in their bones.They lose their appetite for even the most delicious food.Their flesh wastes away, and their bones stick out.They are at death’s door; the angels of death wait for them.“ But if an angel from heaven appears— a special messenger to intercede for a person and declare that he is upright—he will be gracious and say,‘ Rescue him from the grave, for I have found a ransom for his life.’Then his body will become as healthy as a child’s, firm and youthful again.When he prays to God, he will be accepted. And God will receive him with joy and restore him to good standing.He will declare to his friends,‘ I sinned and twisted the truth, but it was not worth it.God rescued me from the grave, and now my life is filled with light.’“ Yes, God does these things again and again for people.He rescues them from the grave so they may enjoy the light of life.

Jesus replied,“ If you only knew the gift God has for you and who you are speaking to, you would ask me, and I would give you living water.”

Praise the Lord, the God of our ancestors, who made the king want to beautify the Temple of the Lord in Jerusalem!

When I refused to confess my sin, my body wasted away, and I groaned all day long.Day and night your hand of discipline was heavy on me. My strength evaporated like water in the summer heat. InterludeFinally, I confessed all my sins to you and stopped trying to hide my guilt. I said to myself,“ I will confess my rebellion to the Lord.” And you forgave me! All my guilt is gone. Interlude

Seek the Lord while you can find him. Call on him now while he is near.Let the wicked change their ways and banish the very thought of doing wrong. Let them turn to the Lord that he may have mercy on them. Yes, turn to our God, for he will forgive generously.“ My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the Lord.“ And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine.For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so my ways are higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts.

Then he said,“ Jesus, remember me when you come into your Kingdom.”And Jesus replied,“ I assure you, today you will be with me in paradise.”

In those days when you pray, I will listen.If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me.

I will give them hearts that recognize me as the Lord. They will be my people, and I will be their God, for they will return to me wholeheartedly.

Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.

And they will not need to teach their neighbors, nor will they need to teach their relatives, saying,‘ You should know the Lord.’ For everyone, from the least to the greatest, will know me already.

The Lord is known for his justice. The wicked are trapped by their own deeds. Quiet Interlude

If you return to the Almighty, you will be restored— so clean up your life.

“ After this time had passed, I, Nebuchadnezzar, looked up to heaven. My sanity returned, and I praised and worshiped the Most High and honored the one who lives forever. His rule is everlasting, and his kingdom is eternal.All the people of the earth are nothing compared to him. He does as he pleases among the angels of heaven and among the people of the earth. No one can stop him or say to him,‘ What do you mean by doing these things?’

O Lord, you are so good, so ready to forgive, so full of unfailing love for all who ask for your help.

When people’s lives please the Lord, even their enemies are at peace with them.

You will pray to him, and he will hear you, and you will fulfill your vows to him.
