Even in the matter of the messengers of the rulers of Babylon, who were sent to him to inquire about the wonder that had happened in the land; God left him alone only to test him, so that He might know everything that was in his heart.

惟有一件事，就是巴比伦王差遣使者来见希西家，访问国中所现的奇事；这件事神离开他，要试验他，好知道他心内如何。

But when envoys were sent by the rulers of Babylon to ask him about the miraculous sign that had occurred in the land, God left him to test him and to know everything that was in his heart.

The rulers of Babylon sent messengers to him. They asked him about the miraculous sign that had taken place in the land. Then God left Hezekiah to test him. God wanted to know everything in Hezekiah’s heart.

And so in the matter of the envoys of the princes of Babylon, who had been sent to him to inquire about the sign that had been done in the land, God left him to himself, in order to test him and to know all that was in his heart.

However, when ambassadors arrived from Babylon to ask about the remarkable events that had taken place in the land, God withdrew from Hezekiah in order to test him and to see what was really in his heart.

When the ambassadors of Babylon’s rulers were sent to him to inquire about the miraculous sign that happened in the land, God left him to test him and discover what was in his heart.

However, regarding the ambassadors of the princes of Babylon, whom they sent to him to inquire about the wonder that was done in the land, God withdrew from him, in order to test him, that He might know all that was in his heart.

Howbeit in the business of the ambassadors of the princes of Babylon, who sent unto him to inquire of the wonder that was done in the land, God left him, to try him, that he might know all that was in his heart.

Howbeit in[ the business of] the ambassadors of the princes of Babylon, who sent unto him to enquire of the wonder that was[ done] in the land, God left him, to try him, that he might know all[ that was] in his heart.

So when the envoys arrived from the Babylonian officials to visit him and inquire about the sign that occurred in the land, God left him alone to test him, in order to know his true motives.

However concerning the ambassadors of the princes of Babylon, who sent to him to inquire of the wonder that was done in the land, God left him, to try him, that he might know all that was in his heart.

And you shall remember all the way which the Lord your God has led you in the wilderness these forty years, in order to humble you, putting you to the test, to know what was in your heart, whether you would keep His commandments or not.

Now it came about after these things, that God tested Abraham, and said to him,“ Abraham!” And he said,“ Here I am.”

In those days Hezekiah became mortally ill; and he prayed to the Lord, and the Lord spoke to him and gave him a sign.

In the wilderness it was He who fed you manna which your fathers did not know, in order to humble you and in order to put you to the test, to do good for you in the end.

No one is to say when he is tempted,“ I am being tempted by God”; for God cannot be tempted by evil, and He Himself does not tempt anyone.

But reach out with Your hand now and touch all that he has; he will certainly curse You to Your face.”Then the Lord said to Satan,“ Behold, all that he has is in your power; only do not reach out and put your hand on him.” So Satan departed from the presence of the Lord.

I am the vine, you are the branches; the one who remains in Me, and I in him bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing.

The refining pot is for silver and the furnace for gold, But the Lord tests hearts.

“ But who can endure the day of His coming? And who can stand when He appears? For He is like a refiner’s fire, and like launderer’s soap.And He will sit as a smelter and purifier of silver, and He will purify the sons of Levi and refine them like gold and silver, so that they may present to the Lord offerings in righteousness.

At that time Merodach baladan son of Baladan, king of Babylon, sent letters and a gift to Hezekiah, for he heard that he had been sick and had recovered.Hezekiah was pleased, and let them see all his treasure house, the silver, the gold, the balsam oil, the excellent olive oil, his entire armory, and everything that was found in his treasuries. There was nothing in his house nor in all his realm that Hezekiah did not let them see.Then Isaiah the prophet came to King Hezekiah and said to him,“ What did these men say, and from where did they come to you?” And Hezekiah said,“ They came to me from a far country, from Babylon.”Then he said,“ What have they seen in your house?” So Hezekiah answered,“ They have seen everything that is in my house; there is nothing among my treasuries that I have not let them see.”Isaiah then said to Hezekiah,“ Hear the word of the Lord of armies,‘ Behold, the days are coming when everything that is in your house, and what your fathers have stored up to this day, will be carried to Babylon; nothing will be left,’ says the Lord.‘ And some of your sons who will come from you, whom you will father, will be taken away, and they will become eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon.’ ”Then Hezekiah said to Isaiah,“ The word of the Lord which you have spoken is good.” For he thought,“ For there will be peace and truth in my days.”

And I will bring the third part through the fire, Refine them as silver is refined, And test them as gold is tested. They will call on My name, And I will answer them; I will say,‘ They are My people,’ And they will say,‘ The Lord is my God.’ ”

She said,“ The Philistines are upon you, Samson!” And he awoke from his sleep and said,“ I will go out as at other times and shake myself free.” But he did not know that the Lord had departed from him.

Now Hezekiah said to Isaiah,“ What will be the sign that the Lord will heal me, and that I will go up to the house of the Lord on the third day?”Isaiah said,“ This shall be the sign to you from the Lord, that the Lord will perform the word that He has spoken: shall the shadow go forward ten steps or go back ten steps?”So Hezekiah said,“ It is easy for the shadow to decline ten steps; no, but have the shadow turn backward ten steps.”Then Isaiah the prophet called out to the Lord, and He brought the shadow on the stairway back ten steps by which it had gone down on the stairway of Ahaz.At that time Berodach baladan, a son of Baladan, king of Babylon, sent letters and a gift to Hezekiah, because he heard that Hezekiah had been sick.And Hezekiah listened to them, and showed them all his treasure house, the silver, the gold, the balsam oil, the scented oil, the house of his armor, and everything that was found in his treasuries. There was nothing in his house nor in all his realm that Hezekiah did not show them.

Do not hide Your face from me, Do not turn Your servant away in anger; You have been my help; Do not abandon me nor forsake me, God of my salvation!

Lord, You have searched me and known me.You know when I sit down and when I get up; You understand my thought from far away.

you shall not listen to the words of that prophet or dreamer of dreams; for the Lord your God is testing you to find out whether you love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul.

so that the proof of your faith, being more precious than gold which perishes though tested by fire, may be found to result in praise, glory, and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ;

“ And this shall be the sign to you from the Lord, that the Lord will perform this word that He has spoken:Behold, I will make the shadow on the stairway, which has gone down with the sun on the stairway of Ahaz, go back ten steps.” So the sun’s shadow went back ten steps on the stairway on which it had gone down.

Do not cast me away from Your presence, And do not take Your Holy Spirit from me.Restore to me the joy of Your salvation, And sustain me with a willing spirit.

Sustain me according to Your word, that I may live; And do not let me be ashamed of my hope.Sustain me so that I may be safe, That I may have regard for Your statutes continually.

The Lord said to Satan,“ Have you considered My servant Job? For there is no one like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man fearing God and turning away from evil. And he still holds firm to his integrity, although you incited Me against him to ruin him without cause.”Satan answered the Lord and said,“ Skin for skin! Yes, all that a man has, he will give for his life.However, reach out with Your hand now, and touch his bone and his flesh; he will curse You to Your face!”So the Lord said to Satan,“ Behold, he is in your power, only spare his life.”

Search me, God, and know my heart; Put me to the test and know my anxious thoughts;And see if there is any hurtful way in me, And lead me in the everlasting way.
