The Lord sent an angel. The angel wiped out all the enemy’s fighting men, commanders and officers. He put an end to them right there in the camp of the Assyrian king. So Sennacherib went back to his own land in shame. He went into the temple of his god. There some of his own sons, the people closest to him, killed him with their swords.

And the Lord sent an angel, who cut off all the mighty warriors and commanders and officers in the camp of the king of Assyria. So he returned with shame of face to his own land. And when he came into the house of his god, some of his own sons struck him down there with the sword.

And the Lord sent an angel who destroyed the Assyrian army with all its commanders and officers. So Sennacherib was forced to return home in disgrace to his own land. And when he entered the temple of his god, some of his own sons killed him there with a sword.

唉！萬民鬧鬨，好像海浪澎湃，列邦喧鬧，如同洪水滔滔，列邦喧鬧，如同大水滔滔；但上帝一斥責，他們就遠遠躲避，他們被追趕，如同山上風前的糠粃，又如暴風前的碎稭；看哪，晚上有驚嚇，未到早晨它就消失無蹤。這是擄掠我們之人的厄運，是搶奪我們之人的報應。

你，惟獨你是可畏的！你的怒氣一發，誰能在你面前站得住呢？

希律不歸榮耀給上帝，所以主的使者立刻擊打他，他被蟲咬，就斷了氣。

驕傲來，羞恥也來；謙遜人卻有智慧。

耶和華說：「現在我要興起，要高升，要受尊崇。你們懷的是糠粃，生的是碎稭；你們的氣息如火吞滅自己。萬民必像燒着的石灰，又如斬斷的荊棘，在火裏燃燒。」

亞摩斯的兒子以賽亞差人去見希西家，說：「耶和華－以色列的上帝如此說：你因亞述王西拿基立的事向我祈求，我已聽見了。

他要挫折王子的驕氣，向地上的君王顯為可畏。

我是耶和華，這是我的名；我必不將我的榮耀歸給別神，也不將我所得的頌讚歸給雕刻的偶像。

我的上帝差遣使者封住獅子的口，叫獅子不傷我，因我在上帝面前無辜。王啊，在你面前我也沒有做過任何虧損的事。」

他說：「我的官長豈不都是君王嗎？

耶和華賜極大的救恩給他所立的王，施慈愛給他的受膏者，就是給大衛和他的後裔，直到永遠。

天使向耶路撒冷伸手要毀滅這城的時候，耶和華改變心意，不降那災難，就對那在百姓中施行毀滅的天使說：「夠了！住手吧！」耶和華的使者正在耶布斯人亞勞拿的禾場那裏。

耶和華必使人聽見他威嚴的聲音，又以極大的憤怒、吞滅的火焰、雷雨、暴風和像石塊的冰雹，使人看見他降罰的膀臂。亞述必因耶和華的聲音驚惶，耶和華必用杖擊打它。耶和華必將定規要打的杖加在它身上；每打一下，都必配合擊鼓彈琴的節奏。打仗時，耶和華必振臂與它交戰。原來陀斐特早已預備好了，是為君王預備的；又深又寬，堆滿了火和木柴；耶和華的氣息猶如一股硫磺使它燃起。

亞摩斯的兒子以賽亞就差人去見希西家，說：「耶和華－以色列的上帝如此說，你因亞述王西拿基立的事向我祈求，

世代的終結也要這樣：天使要出來，把惡人從義人中分別出來，丟在火爐裏，在那裏要哀哭切齒了。」

尼布甲尼撒說：「沙得拉、米煞、亞伯尼歌的上帝是應當稱頌的！他差遣使者救護倚靠他的僕人，他們不遵王的命令，甚至捨身，在他們上帝以外不肯事奉敬拜別神。

我要使他的仇敵披上羞恥；但他的冠冕要在他頭上發光。」

心中勇敢的人都被掠奪；他們睡了長覺，沒有一個英雄能措手。

看哪，主－萬軍之耶和華以猛撞削斷樹枝；巨木必被砍下，高大的樹必降為低。稠密的樹林，他要用鐵器砍下，黎巴嫩必被大能者伐倒。

若不然，怎能使我主臣僕中最小的一個軍官轉臉而逃呢？你難道要倚靠埃及的戰車和騎兵嗎？

驕傲在敗壞以先，內心高傲在跌倒之前。

地上的君王、臣宰、將軍、富戶、壯士，和一切為奴的、自主的，都藏在山洞和巖石穴裏，向山和巖石說：「倒在我們身上吧！把我們藏起來，躲避坐寶座者的臉面和羔羊的憤怒；

他心裏有智慧，且大有能力。誰向上帝剛硬而得平安呢？

你那成羣的陌生人要像細塵，暴民要像吹起的糠粃；這事必頃刻之間忽然臨到。萬軍之耶和華必使雷轟、地震、巨響、旋風、暴風，並吞滅的火焰臨到它。那時，攻擊亞利伊勒列國的軍隊，與一切攻擊亞利伊勒和它城堡，並帶給它患難的，必如夢，如夜間的異象；又像飢餓的人在夢中吃飯，醒了仍覺飢腸轆轆；或像口渴的人在夢中喝水，醒了仍覺發昏，心裏想喝。攻擊錫安山列國的軍隊也必如此。

因此，主－萬軍之耶和華必使亞述王的壯士變為瘦弱，在他的榮華之下必有火點燃，如同火在燃燒一般。以色列的光必變成火，它的聖者必成為火焰；一日之間，將亞述王的荊棘和蒺藜焚燒淨盡，又毀滅樹林和田園的榮華，連魂帶體，好像病重的人消逝一樣。他林中只剩下稀少的樹木，連孩童也能寫其數目。

我又看見一位天使站在太陽中，向天空一切的飛鳥大聲喊着說：「你們聚集來赴上帝的大宴席，為要吃君王的肉、將軍的肉、壯士的肉、馬和騎士的肉、一切自主的和為奴的，以及尊貴的和卑賤的肉。」
