So Sennacherib went back to his own land in shame. He went into the temple of his god. There some of his own sons, the people closest to him, killed him with their swords.

And the Lord sent an angel, who cut off all the mighty warriors and commanders and officers in the camp of the king of Assyria. So he returned with shame of face to his own land. And when he came into the house of his god, some of his own sons struck him down there with the sword.

唉！万民闹哄，好像海浪澎湃，列邦喧闹，如同洪水滔滔，列邦喧闹，如同大水滔滔；但上帝一斥责，他们就远远躲避，他们被追赶，如同山上风前的糠秕，又如暴风前的碎秸；看哪，晚上有惊吓，未到早晨它就消失无踪。这是掳掠我们之人的厄运，是抢夺我们之人的报应。

你，惟独你是可畏的！你的怒气一发，谁能在你面前站得住呢？

希律不归荣耀给上帝，所以主的使者立刻击打他，他被虫咬，就断了气。

骄傲来，羞耻也来；谦逊人却有智慧。

耶和华说：“现在我要兴起，要高升，要受尊崇。你们怀的是糠秕，生的是碎秸；你们的气息如火吞灭自己。万民必像烧着的石灰，又如斩断的荆棘，在火里燃烧。”

亚摩斯的儿子以赛亚差人去见希西家，说：“耶和华—以色列的上帝如此说：你因亚述王西拿基立的事向我祈求，我已听见了。

他要挫折王子的骄气，向地上的君王显为可畏。

我是耶和华，这是我的名；我必不将我的荣耀归给别神，也不将我所得的颂赞归给雕刻的偶像。

我的上帝差遣使者封住狮子的口，叫狮子不伤我，因我在上帝面前无辜。王啊，在你面前我也没有做过任何亏损的事。”

他说：“我的官长岂不都是君王吗？

耶和华赐极大的救恩给他所立的王，施慈爱给他的受膏者，就是给大卫和他的后裔，直到永远。

天使向耶路撒冷伸手要毁灭这城的时候，耶和华改变心意，不降那灾难，就对那在百姓中施行毁灭的天使说：“够了！住手吧！”耶和华的使者正在耶布斯人亚劳拿的禾场那里。

耶和华必使人听见他威严的声音，又以极大的愤怒、吞灭的火焰、雷雨、暴风和像石块的冰雹，使人看见他降罚的膀臂。亚述必因耶和华的声音惊惶，耶和华必用杖击打它。耶和华必将定规要打的杖加在它身上；每打一下，都必配合击鼓弹琴的节奏。打仗时，耶和华必振臂与它交战。原来陀斐特早已预备好了，是为君王预备的；又深又宽，堆满了火和木柴；耶和华的气息犹如一股硫磺使它燃起。

亚摩斯的儿子以赛亚就差人去见希西家，说：“耶和华—以色列的上帝如此说，你因亚述王西拿基立的事向我祈求，

世代的终结也要这样：天使要出来，把恶人从义人中分别出来，丢在火炉里，在那里要哀哭切齿了。”

尼布甲尼撒说：“沙得拉、米煞、亚伯尼歌的上帝是应当称颂的！他差遣使者救护倚靠他的仆人，他们不遵王的命令，甚至舍身，在他们上帝以外不肯事奉敬拜别神。

我要使他的仇敌披上羞耻；但他的冠冕要在他头上发光。”

心中勇敢的人都被掠夺；他们睡了长觉，没有一个英雄能措手。

看哪，主—万军之耶和华以猛撞削断树枝；巨木必被砍下，高大的树必降为低。稠密的树林，他要用铁器砍下，黎巴嫩必被大能者伐倒。

若不然，怎能使我主臣仆中最小的一个军官转脸而逃呢？你难道要倚靠埃及的战车和骑兵吗？

骄傲在败坏以先，内心高傲在跌倒之前。

地上的君王、臣宰、将军、富户、壮士，和一切为奴的、自主的，都藏在山洞和岩石穴里，向山和岩石说：“倒在我们身上吧！把我们藏起来，躲避坐宝座者的脸面和羔羊的愤怒；

他心里有智慧，且大有能力。谁向上帝刚硬而得平安呢？

你那成群的陌生人要像细尘，暴民要像吹起的糠秕；这事必顷刻之间忽然临到。万军之耶和华必使雷轰、地震、巨响、旋风、暴风，并吞灭的火焰临到它。那时，攻击亚利伊勒列国的军队，与一切攻击亚利伊勒和它城堡，并带给它患难的，必如梦，如夜间的异象；又像饥饿的人在梦中吃饭，醒了仍觉饥肠辘辘；或像口渴的人在梦中喝水，醒了仍觉发昏，心里想喝。攻击锡安山列国的军队也必如此。

因此，主—万军之耶和华必使亚述王的壮士变为瘦弱，在他的荣华之下必有火点燃，如同火在燃烧一般。以色列的光必变成火，它的圣者必成为火焰；一日之间，将亚述王的荆棘和蒺藜焚烧净尽，又毁灭树林和田园的荣华，连魂带体，好像病重的人消逝一样。他林中只剩下稀少的树木，连孩童也能写其数目。

我又看见一位天使站在太阳中，向天空一切的飞鸟大声喊着说：“你们聚集来赴上帝的大宴席，为要吃君王的肉、将军的肉、壮士的肉、马和骑士的肉、一切自主的和为奴的，以及尊贵的和卑贱的肉。”
