And the Lord sent an angel, who annihilated all the fighting men and the commanders and officers in the camp of the Assyrian king. So he withdrew to his own land in disgrace. And when he went into the temple of his god, some of his sons, his own flesh and blood, cut him down with the sword.

The Lord sent an angel. The angel wiped out all the enemy’s fighting men, commanders and officers. He put an end to them right there in the camp of the Assyrian king. So Sennacherib went back to his own land in shame. He went into the temple of his god. There some of his own sons, the people closest to him, killed him with their swords.

And the Lord sent an angel, who cut off all the mighty warriors and commanders and officers in the camp of the king of Assyria. So he returned with shame of face to his own land. And when he came into the house of his god, some of his own sons struck him down there with the sword.

唉！許多民族在喧嘩，他們喧嚷好像海浪澎湃；列國在咆哮，他們吼叫，好像洪水奔流。萬族怒號，好像眾水湧流，但神必斥責他們，使他們遠遠逃跑；他們又被追趕，如同山上風前的糠秕，又像暴風前的塵土捲動。在晚上有驚恐，未到早晨，他們就沒有了，這是那些搶奪我們的人所得的分，是那些掠劫我們的人應得的報應。

那天晚上，耶和華的使者出去，在亞述軍營殺了十八萬五千人。早上，他們起來的時候，看哪，到處都是死屍。於是亞述王西拿基立拔營離開，回去住在尼尼微。一日，他正在他的神亞斯洛的廟中叩拜的時候，亞得米勒和沙利色用刀刺殺了他，然後逃到亞拉臘地。他的兒子以撒哈頓接續他作王。

唯有你是可畏的，你的烈怒一發出，誰能在你面前站立得住呢？

他不歸榮耀給神，所以主的使者立刻擊打他，他被蟲咬，就斷了氣。

傲慢來，羞辱也來；謙卑的人卻有智慧。

耶和華說：“現在我要起來，現在我要興起，現在我要被人尊崇。你們所懷的是糠秕，所生的是碎稭；我的氣息必像火一般吞滅你們。眾民必像燃燒的石灰，又像被割下的荊棘，在火中焚燒。

於是亞摩斯的兒子以賽亞派人去見希西家，說：“耶和華以色列的神這樣說：‘你向我禱告有關亞述王西拿基立的事，我已經聽見了。’

他必挫折眾領袖的傲氣，他必使地上的君王畏懼他。

我是耶和華，這是我的名；我必不把我的榮耀歸給別人，也不把我當受的稱讚歸給雕刻的偶像。

我的神差遣了他的使者，封住獅子的口，使牠們沒有傷害我，因為我在神面前是清白的；王啊！在你面前我也沒有作過任何錯事。”

因為他說：“在我手下的眾領袖不都是王嗎？

耶和華賜極大的救恩給他所立的王，又向他的受膏者施慈愛，就是向大衛和他的後裔施慈愛，直到永遠。

當天使向耶路撒冷伸手，要毀滅耶路撒冷的時候，耶和華就後悔降這災禍，就對那毀滅眾民的天使說：“夠了，現在住手吧！”那時，耶和華的天使在耶布斯人亞勞拿的打禾場那裡。

耶和華必使人聽見他威嚴的聲音，在烈怒、吞滅一切火燄、大雨、暴風和冰雹之中，又使人看見他那降下來的膀臂。亞述人必因耶和華的聲音驚惶；耶和華要用杖擊打他們。耶和華必把刑罰的杖加在他們身上，每打一下，都有擊鼓和彈琴的聲音；耶和華在爭戰的時候，必揮動著手與他們爭戰。因為陀斐特那燒著的火早已安排好了，是為君王預備的，又深又寬；其中所堆的，是火和許多的柴；耶和華的氣像一股硫磺火，把它燃點起來。

亞摩斯的兒子以賽亞就派人去見希西家，說：“耶和華以色列的神這樣說：‘因為你向我禱告關於亞述王西拿基立的事，

這世代終結的時候，也是一樣。那時天使要出去，把惡人從義人中分別出來。丟進火爐，在那裡必要哀哭切齒。

尼布甲尼撒說：“沙得拉、米煞、亞伯尼歌的神是應當稱頌的，他差遣使者拯救那些倚靠他的僕人；他們違抗王的命令，寧願捨命，除了自己的神以外，不肯事奉敬拜任何其他的神。

我要使他的仇敵都披上羞辱，但他的冠冕必在他頭上發光。”

心裡勇敢的人都被搶掠，他們長睡不起；所有大能的勇士都無力舉手。

看哪！主萬軍之耶和華在可怕的震撼聲中，把樹枝削去；身量高的必被砍下，高大的必被伐倒。樹林中的密叢，他必用鐵器砍下；黎巴嫩的樹木必被大能者伐倒。

若不能，你怎能擊退我主的臣僕中最小的軍長呢？你竟倚靠埃及的戰車和馬兵嗎？

在滅亡以先，必有驕傲；在跌倒以前，心中高傲。

地上的君王、大臣、軍長、財主、勇士和所有作奴隸的、自由的，都藏在山洞和巖穴裡。他們向山嶺和巖石說：“倒在我們身上吧！把我們藏起來，躲避坐在寶座上那位的面，和羊羔的震怒！

他心裡有智慧，而且有極大的能力，有誰對他剛硬而平安無事呢？

但你敵人的數量必多如灰塵，那些強暴者的數量也多如被吹散的糠秕，這必在頃刻之間，突然發生。萬軍之耶和華必用雷轟、地震、大聲、旋風、暴風和吞滅人的火燄來懲罰他們。那時，所有攻擊亞利伊勒的列國眾軍，就是所有攻擊亞利伊勒和它的堡壘，以及迫害它的，必如夢景，如夜間的異象。又像飢餓的人在夢中吃飯，醒了以後，仍然覺得飢餓；又像口渴的人在夢中喝水，醒了以後，仍然覺得口渴，心裡還是想喝。那攻打錫安山的列國眾軍，也必這樣。

因此，主萬軍之耶和華必打發令人消瘦的病臨到亞述王肥壯的軍人中間，在他的榮耀之下必燃起火燄，如同火燒一樣。以色列的光必變成火，他的聖者必成為火燄；在一日之間把亞述王的荊棘和蒺藜焚燒與吞滅。又把他樹林和豐盛果園的榮美全部滅盡，包括靈魂和身體，好像一個患病的人漸漸虛弱一樣。他林中剩下的樹，數目必定稀少，連小孩子也能把它們的數目寫下來。

我又看見一位天使站在太陽中，向高空所有的飛鳥大聲呼喊說：“你們來吧！齊集起來赴神的大筵席！可以吃君王的肉、將領的肉、壯士的肉，馬和騎士的肉，以及自由的、作奴隸的、大的、小的，所有人的肉。”
