They were comparing the God of Jerusalem to the gods of the other nations of the world. But those gods were only statues. They had been made by human hands.

And they spoke of the God of Jerusalem as they spoke of the gods of the peoples of the earth, which are the work of men’s hands.

These officers talked about the God of Jerusalem as though he were one of the pagan gods, made by human hands.

又把它们的神像扔进火中；那些神像之所以被灭绝，是因为它们不是神，只不过是人手所造的，是用木头、石头造的！

耶和华所立的根基在圣山上；耶和华爱锡安的城门，胜过雅各所有的住所。神的城啊，有许多荣耀的事是指着你说的！细拉

他们讥讽、嘲笑，怀着恶意说欺压人的话。他们说话出于高傲；他们开口亵渎上天，他们的舌头殃及全地。因此连神的子民也转向那里，喝了他们大量的水。他们说：“神怎能知道呢？至高者有知识吗？”

列国的偶像是银的、金的，是人手所做的：它们有嘴却不能说，有眼却不能看；有耳却不能听，口中也没有气息；那些造它们的、所有依靠它们的，都会像它们那样。

在犹大，神被人所认识；在以色列，他的名为大。他的帐幕在撒冷，他的住处在锡安。

相反，你们却是来到了锡安山、永生神的城、天上的耶路撒冷面前；来到了千万天使的盛会面前；

因为耶和华选择了锡安，选定她作自己居住的地方：“这是我永远的安息之所；我要住在这里，因为我选定了锡安。

恶人为什么藐视神，为什么心里说“你不会追讨”呢？其实你已经看见，你顾念人的祸患和烦恼，把它们放在你的手中。无助之人把自己交托给你，你一向是孤儿的帮助者。

他却拣选了犹大支派，他所爱的锡安山。

无论狮子还是熊，你的仆人都击杀过。这未受割礼的非利士人也必像它们中的一个，因为他辱骂永生神的军队。”

他用一半的木头烧火，在其上做肉吃；他烤肉、吃饱，又自己取暖，说：“啊哈，我暖和了！我感到火热了。”他用剩下的一半做了一个神像，就是他雕刻的偶像，然后向它俯伏下拜，又向它祷告，说：“求你救我，因为你是我的神。”这样的人不明白，也不领悟，因为耶和华蒙蔽他们的眼使他们不能看见，蒙蔽他们的心使他们不能明悟。他们不反思，也没有知识和聪慧来说：“我用一半的木头烧火，又在火炭上烘饼，烤肉吃。我怎么能用剩下的木头制造可憎之物呢？我怎么能向一块木头膜拜呢？”他们追求的只是灰烬；他们的心受了迷惑，使他们偏离正道；他们不能救自己，也不会说：“我右手中的，难道不是虚谎之物吗？”
