『你要告訴以色列人說：你們和你們的後代中、若有人因屍體而不潔淨，或是遠遠地在路中，還要向永恆主舉行逾越節，那麼他們就要在二月十四日傍晚時分舉行，要拌着無酵餅和苦菜喫。

二月有許多人民聚集在耶路撒冷，成了極多人的大眾，要守除酵之節。

窮乏而有智慧的少年人勝過年老而愚頑的王。這人即使是從監牢中出來作王，或者在國中雖則生來窮乏，還是不曉得納諫。

二月十四日他們宰了逾越節的羊羔；祭司們和利未人們覺得慚愧，就潔淨自己為聖，把燔祭奉到永恆主殿中。

不經商議、所謀的必失敗；謀士眾多、計畫乃立得成。

大衛同千夫長百夫長、所有的首領、商議。大衛對以色列全體大眾說：『你們若以為好，若以為是出於永恆主我們的上帝，那麼我們就發急令，差遣人去見我們的族弟兄、那些在以色列各地其餘之民、連同祭司和利未人、那些在有牧場之城的，叫他們集合到我們這裏來。我們就可以將我們的上帝的櫃轉運到我們這裏來；因為當掃羅在位的日子、我們都沒有在櫃前尋問過。

無智謀，人民就敗落；謀士多，百姓便安全。
