They killed the Passover lamb on the 14th day of the second month. The priests and Levites were ashamed of how they had lived. They set themselves apart to the Lord. They brought burnt offerings to his temple.

Hezekiah king of Judah provided a thousand bulls and seven thousand sheep and goats for the assembly, and the officials provided them with a thousand bulls and ten thousand sheep and goats. A great number of priests consecrated themselves.

They included all the little ones, the wives, and the sons and daughters of the whole community listed in these genealogical records. For they were faithful in consecrating themselves.

And the Lord said to Moses,“ Go to the people and consecrate them today and tomorrow. Have them wash their clothes

“ Son of man, describe the temple to the people of Israel, that they may be ashamed of their sins. Let them consider its perfection,and if they are ashamed of all they have done, make known to them the design of the temple— its arrangement, its exits and entrances— its whole design and all its regulations and laws. Write these down before them so that they may be faithful to its design and follow all its regulations.

When they had assembled their fellow Levites and consecrated themselves, they went in to purify the temple of the Lord, as the king had ordered, following the word of the Lord.

The priests then withdrew from the Holy Place. All the priests who were there had consecrated themselves, regardless of their divisions.

Then you will remember your ways and be ashamed when you receive your sisters, both those who are older than you and those who are younger. I will give them to you as daughters, but not on the basis of my covenant with you.So I will establish my covenant with you, and you will know that I am the Lord.Then, when I make atonement for you for all you have done, you will remember and be ashamed and never again open your mouth because of your humiliation, declares the Sovereign Lord.’”
