眾人在他面前拆毀了巴力的祭壇，他親自打碎了壇上高高的香壇，又把亞舍拉、雕像和鑄像砍碎成灰，撒在向這些偶像獻過祭的人的墳上。

他又把亞哈斯的樓房頂上，猶大列王所做的祭壇，和瑪拿西在耶和華殿的兩院中所做的祭壇拆毀，就地打碎，把它們的灰塵倒進汲淪溪去。在耶路撒冷東面、橄欖山南面的邱壇，就是以色列王所羅門為西頓人可憎的神亞斯他錄、摩押人可憎的神基抹，和亞捫人可憎的神米勒公所築的邱壇，王都污穢了。

耶穌說完了這些話，就和門徒出去，過了汲淪溪。在那裡有一個園子，耶穌和門徒進去了。

偶像卻必全然消逝。耶和華起來，使大地震動的時候，人必進入石洞，進入土穴，躲避耶和華的驚嚇和他威嚴的榮光。到那日，人必把那些自己所做、供自己敬拜的金偶像和銀偶像，拋給田鼠和蝙蝠。
