Then Solomon began to build the temple of the Lord in Jerusalem on Mount Moriah, where the Lord had appeared to his father David. It was on the threshing floor of Araunah the Jebusite, the place provided by David.

Then Solomon began to build the temple of the Lord. He built it on Mount Moriah in Jerusalem. That’s where the Lord had appeared to Solomon’s father David. The Lord had appeared at the threshing floor of Araunah. Araunah was from Jebus. David had provided the threshing floor.

永恆主的使者吩咐迦得去告訴大衛、說大衛要上去、在耶布斯人阿珥楠的禾場上為永恆主立座祭壇。

大衛吩咐了人招聚以色列地的寄居者，又派立了石匠鑿石頭、砍削好好，要建造上帝的殿。

以色列人出埃及地以後四百八十年，所羅門作王管理以色列、第四年西弗月、就是二月、他開始為永恆主建殿。所羅門王為永恆主建的殿、長六十肘，寬二十肘，高三十肘。殿堂前的廊子長二十肘，和殿的寬度一樣；廊子在殿前闊十肘。他又為殿作了窗戶、有內寬外窄的窗格子。他建造了樓房靠着殿的牆、圍着殿四圍的牆；對着殿堂和內殿他四圍造了廂房。廂房下層寬五肘，中層寬六肘，第三層寬七肘；因為殿的外面四圍有坎，免得梁木插入殿的牆裏。殿建造的時候、是用石山上琢好了的整塊石頭；因此當殿建造的時候、槌子、斧子，或任何鐵器的響聲都沒有聽見。在殿的南邊、廂房下層那裏有門；人從螺旋樓梯可以上到中層，又從中層到第三層。所羅門建殿，建到完成。他用香柏木的椽和桷作殿的天花板。他建造了樓房靠着整個的殿，每層各高五肘；都用香柏木料和殿連接着。永恆主的話傳與所羅門說：『關於你所建的這殿，你若遵行我的律例，實行我的典章，遵守我的一切誡命、按着誡命而行，我就必實行我的話在你身上，那話就是我對你父親大衛所應許過的。我必在以色列人中間居住，我必不丟棄我的人民以色列。』所羅門建殿，建到完成。

那一天迦得來見大衛，對他說：『你上去，在耶布斯人亞勞拿的禾場上為永恆主立座祭壇。』大衛就照迦得的話、照永恆主所吩咐的上去。亞勞拿往下眺望，見王和他臣僕迎面前進而來，就出去迎接，面伏於地、向王下拜。亞勞拿說：『我主我王為甚麼來到僕人這裏呢？』大衛說：『是要從你買這禾場，好為永恆主築座祭壇，使疫症可以被抑制住、不再流行於民間。』亞勞拿對大衛說：『我主我王看甚麼好、就拿甚麼去獻上吧；看哪，這裏有牛可以做燔祭，有打糧的傢什和套牛的器具、可以當柴燒。王啊，這一切亞勞拿都送給王了。』亞勞拿又對王說：『願永恆主你的上帝悅納你。』王對亞勞拿說：『不；我一定要按價值向你買；我不用白得之物做燔祭獻與永恆主我的上帝。』大衛就用五十舍客勒的銀子買了那禾場和牛。就在那裏大衛就為永恆主築了一座祭壇，獻上燔祭和平安祭。這麼，永恆主應允了他們為這地所懇求的，疫症就從以色列人中抑制住了。
