Then Solomon began to build the temple of the Lord in Jerusalem on Mount Moriah, where the Lord had appeared to his father David. It was on the threshing floor of Araunah the Jebusite, the place provided by David.

Then Solomon began to build the temple of the Lord. He built it on Mount Moriah in Jerusalem. That’s where the Lord had appeared to Solomon’s father David. The Lord had appeared at the threshing floor of Araunah. Araunah was from Jebus. David had provided the threshing floor.

耶和華的使者吩咐迦得去告訴大衛，叫他上去，在耶布斯人阿珥楠的禾場上為耶和華築一座壇；

亞伯拉罕給那地方起名叫「耶和華以勒」，直到今日人還說：「在耶和華的山上必有預備。」

神說：「你帶着你的兒子，就是你獨生的兒子，你所愛的以撒，往摩利亞地去，在我所要指示你的山上，把他獻為燔祭。」

大衛說：「這就是耶和華神的殿，為以色列人獻燔祭的壇。」

以色列人出埃及地後四百八十年，所羅門作以色列王第四年西弗月，就是二月，開工建造耶和華的殿。所羅門王為耶和華所建的殿，長六十肘，寬二十肘，高三十肘。殿前的廊子長二十肘，與殿的寬窄一樣，闊十肘；又為殿做了嚴緊的窗櫺。靠着殿牆，圍着外殿內殿，造了三層旁屋；下層寬五肘，中層寬六肘，上層寬七肘。殿外旁屋的樑木擱在殿牆坎上，免得插入殿牆。建殿是用山中鑿成的石頭。建殿的時候，鎚子、斧子，和別樣鐵器的響聲都沒有聽見。在殿右邊當中的旁屋有門，門內有旋螺的樓梯，可以上到第二層，從第二層可以上到第三層。所羅門建殿，安置香柏木的棟樑，又用香柏木板遮蓋。靠着殿所造的旁屋，每層高五肘，香柏木的棟樑擱在殿牆坎上。耶和華的話臨到所羅門說：「論到你所建的這殿，你若遵行我的律例，謹守我的典章，遵從我的一切誡命，我必向你應驗我所應許你父親大衛的話。我必住在以色列人中間，並不丟棄我民以色列。」所羅門建造殿宇。

當日，迦得來見大衛，對他說：「你上去，在耶布斯人亞勞拿的禾場上為耶和華築一座壇。」大衛就照着迦得奉耶和華名所說的話上去了。亞勞拿觀看，見王和他臣僕前來，就迎接出去，臉伏於地，向王下拜，說：「我主我王為何來到僕人這裏呢？」大衛說：「我要買你這禾場，為耶和華築一座壇，使民間的瘟疫止住。」亞勞拿對大衛說：「我主我王，你喜悅用甚麼，就拿去獻祭。看哪，這裏有牛可以作燔祭，有打糧的器具和套牛的軛可以當柴燒。王啊，這一切，我亞勞拿都奉給你」；又對王說：「願耶和華－你的神悅納你。」王對亞勞拿說：「不然。我必要按着價值向你買；我不肯用白得之物作燔祭獻給耶和華－我的神。」大衛就用五十舍客勒銀子買了那禾場與牛。大衛在那裏為耶和華築了一座壇，獻燔祭和平安祭。如此，耶和華垂聽國民所求的，瘟疫在以色列人中就止住了。
