Then Solomon began to build the temple of the Lord in Jerusalem on Mount Moriah, where the Lord had appeared to his father David. It was on the threshing floor of Araunah the Jebusite, the place provided by David.

耶和华的使者吩咐迦得去告诉大卫，叫他上去，在耶布斯人阿珥楠的禾场上为耶和华筑一座坛；

亚伯拉罕给那地方起名叫“耶和华以勒”，直到今日人还说：“在耶和华的山上必有预备。”

神说：“你带着你的儿子，就是你独生的儿子，你所爱的以撒，往摩利亚地去，在我所要指示你的山上，把他献为燔祭。”

大卫说：“这就是耶和华神的殿，为以色列人献燔祭的坛。”

以色列人出埃及地后四百八十年，所罗门作以色列王第四年西弗月，就是二月，开工建造耶和华的殿。所罗门王为耶和华所建的殿，长六十肘，宽二十肘，高三十肘。殿前的廊子长二十肘，与殿的宽窄一样，阔十肘；又为殿做了严紧的窗棂。靠着殿墙，围着外殿内殿，造了三层旁屋；下层宽五肘，中层宽六肘，上层宽七肘。殿外旁屋的梁木搁在殿墙坎上，免得插入殿墙。建殿是用山中凿成的石头。建殿的时候，锤子、斧子，和别样铁器的响声都没有听见。在殿右边当中的旁屋有门，门内有旋螺的楼梯，可以上到第二层，从第二层可以上到第三层。所罗门建殿，安置香柏木的栋梁，又用香柏木板遮盖。靠着殿所造的旁屋，每层高五肘，香柏木的栋梁搁在殿墙坎上。耶和华的话临到所罗门说：“论到你所建的这殿，你若遵行我的律例，谨守我的典章，遵从我的一切诫命，我必向你应验我所应许你父亲大卫的话。我必住在以色列人中间，并不丢弃我民以色列。”所罗门建造殿宇。

当日，迦得来见大卫，对他说：“你上去，在耶布斯人亚劳拿的禾场上为耶和华筑一座坛。”大卫就照着迦得奉耶和华名所说的话上去了。亚劳拿观看，见王和他臣仆前来，就迎接出去，脸伏于地，向王下拜，说：“我主我王为何来到仆人这里呢？”大卫说：“我要买你这禾场，为耶和华筑一座坛，使民间的瘟疫止住。”亚劳拿对大卫说：“我主我王，你喜悦用什么，就拿去献祭。看哪，这里有牛可以作燔祭，有打粮的器具和套牛的轭可以当柴烧。王啊，这一切，我亚劳拿都奉给你”；又对王说：“愿耶和华你的神悦纳你。”王对亚劳拿说：“不然。我必要按着价值向你买；我不肯用白得之物作燔祭献给耶和华我的神。”大卫就用五十舍客勒银子买了那禾场与牛。大卫在那里为耶和华筑了一座坛，献燔祭和平安祭。如此，耶和华垂听国民所求的，瘟疫在以色列人中就止住了。
