那一天，迦得來見大衛，對他說：「你上去，在耶布斯人亞勞拿的打穀場上為耶和華立一座祭壇。」大衛就照著迦得的話，按照耶和華的吩咐上去了。亞勞拿往下觀看的時候，看見王和他的臣僕們正向他走過來，亞勞拿就出去，臉伏於地向王下拜。亞勞拿問：「我主我王為什麼來到你僕人這裡呢？」大衛說：「是要向你買這打穀場，好為耶和華築一座祭壇，使瘟疫在百姓中間止住。」亞勞拿對大衛說：「我主我王看為好的，就拿去獻上吧！看，牛可以作燔祭，打穀器具和套牛的軛可以作木柴。王啊，我亞勞拿把這一切都獻給王。」亞勞拿又對王說：「願耶和華你的神悅納你！」王對亞勞拿說：「不，我一定要按價向你購買，我不能獻上無償的燔祭給耶和華我的神。」大衛就用五十謝克爾銀子買下了那打穀場和牛。大衛在那裡為耶和華築了一座祭壇，獻上燔祭和平安祭。這樣，耶和華應允為那地所做的祈求，瘟疫就在以色列人中止住了。
