亞哈斯把神殿裡的器皿收集起來，把這些神殿裡的器皿都擊碎了，又封閉了耶和華殿的各門，並且在耶路撒冷的各個角落建造祭壇。

“你要吩咐以色列人，把點燈用的榨成的純淨橄欖油，拿來給你，使燈火長燃。在會幕中法櫃的幔子外，亞倫要使這燈在耶和華面前通宵達旦地長燃；這是你們世世代代永遠的律例。亞倫要不斷地在耶和華面前，整理純金燈臺（“金燈臺”或譯：“潔淨的燈臺”）上的燈。“你要取細麵烤成十二個餅，每一個餅用兩公斤細麵。你要把餅擺列成兩排，每排六個，放在耶和華面前精金的桌子（“精金的桌子”或譯：“潔淨的桌子”）上；把純乳香放在每排餅上，象徵這些餅作獻給耶和華的火祭。每一個安息日，亞倫都要把餅擺在耶和華面前，不可間斷，這是以色列人永遠的約。

“真願你們當中有人把殿門關上，免得你們在我的壇上徒然點火。”萬軍之耶和華說：“我不喜歡你們，也不從你們手中收納禮物。”

亞哈斯又砍掉盆座的邊緣，把洗濯盆拿下來，又把銅海從馱著銅海的銅牛上取下來，放在鋪了石的地上。又因亞述王的緣故，他把耶和華殿裡為安息日而建造的廊子，和王從外邊進殿的廊子，從耶和華的殿內拆除。

他在位的元年正月，開了耶和華殿的門，重新修理。
