『你們和你們列祖、你們的王和首領、以及國中之民、在猶大城市和耶路撒冷街上所燒的燻祭，永恆主哪能不記得，那事哪能不湧上他心頭呢？

豈不是當永恆主你的上帝領你行路時，你的離棄了他把這事引到你身上來麼？

自從我們列祖的日子到今天、我們的罪過都很大；並且為了我們的罪愆的緣故，我們和我們的王、跟祭司、都被交於四圍各地的列王手中，交於刀劍之下，被擄掠、被搶奪、滿臉蒙羞，正如今日一樣。

只因我們的列祖激了天上之上帝的震怒，上帝把他們交在迦勒底人巴比倫王尼布甲尼撒手中，尼布甲尼撒便將這殿拆毁，又將人民擄到巴比倫去。

主啊，求你按你所顯的義氣使你的怒氣烈怒轉離你的城耶路撒冷，你的聖山；因為為了我們的罪和我們列祖的罪孽之緣故、耶路撒冷和你的子民已成了我們四圍眾人所羞辱的了。

他向擊敗了他的大馬色神獻祭，說：『因為亞蘭王的神幫助了亞蘭人，我也向他們獻祭，他們好幫助我。』但那些神卻使他和以色列眾人敗亡。亞哈斯將上帝殿裏的器皿收聚起來，將上帝殿裏的器皿砍壞了，又封鎖永恆主之殿的各門，在耶路撒冷的各拐角造了祭壇。他又在猶大各城造了邱壇，向別的神燒香，惹了永恆主他列祖的上帝的怒氣。

卻走以色列諸王的路。竟為巴力造了鑄像；並且在欣嫩子平谷中燒香，將兒女用火燒獻為祭，像永恆主從以色列人面前所驅逐的外國人所行可厭惡的事一樣；他並且在邱壇上、在山岡上、和各茂盛樹下宰牲燻祭。

因為我的人民作了兩件壞事：就是離棄了我這活水之源頭，去為自己鑿出池子，破裂的池子，不能存水的。

永恆主，我的力量，我的保障，我患難之日的躲避所啊，列國的人必從地極來見你，說：『我們列祖所承受到的不過是虛假、虛空、其中毫無益處的偶像。

『你們去，為我、為以色列中和猶大中的餘民、將所發現這一卷書上的話尋問永恆主；因為永恆主的烈怒倒在我們身上來的很大；這是因為我們列祖沒有遵守永恆主的話，沒有照一切寫在這書上的去行的緣故。』

愛父親或母親過於愛我的，配不起我；愛兒子或女兒過於愛我的，配不起我；

說：「假使我們在我們祖宗的日子，我們就不至於在神言人們血上作他們的夥伴了。」這你們便是控訴自己作證自己是殺害神言人者的子孫了。你們祖宗的惡貫你們去滿盈吧！

『現在呢、我們的上帝啊，至大、至有能力、至可畏懼、守約守堅愛的上帝啊，我們、我們的王和首領、我們的祭司和神言人、我們的列祖和你的眾民、從亞述列王的日子直到今日所遭遇的一切艱難困苦、求你不要看為小事。
