Then these Levites set to work: from the Kohathites, Mahath son of Amasai and Joel son of Azariah; from the Merarites, Kish son of Abdi and Azariah son of Jehallelel; from the Gershonites, Joah son of Zimmah and Eden son of Joah;

Here are the Levites who went to work. Mahath and Joel were from the family line of Kohath. Mahath was the son of Amasai. Joel was the son of Azariah. Kish and Azariah were from the family line of Merari. Kish was the son of Abdi. Azariah was the son of Jehallelel. Joah and Eden were from the family line of Gershon. Joah was the son of Zimmah. Eden was the son of Joah.

Then the Levites arose, Mahath the son of Amasai, and Joel the son of Azariah, of the sons of the Kohathites; and of the sons of Merari, Kish the son of Abdi, and Azariah the son of Jehallelel; and of the Gershonites, Joah the son of Zimmah, and Eden the son of Joah;

Then these Levites got right to work: From the clan of Kohath: Mahath son of Amasai and Joel son of Azariah. From the clan of Merari: Kish son of Abdi and Azariah son of Jehallelel. From the clan of Gershon: Joah son of Zimmah and Eden son of Joah.

Then the Levites stood up: Mahath son of Amasai and Joel son of Azariah from the Kohathites; Kish son of Abdi and Azariah son of Jehallelel from the Merarites; Joah son of Zimmah and Eden son of Joah from the Gershonites;

屬革順族的有拉但和示每。拉但的兒子、頭一個是耶歇，還有西坦和約珥、共三個人。示每的兒子是示羅密、哈薛、哈蘭、三個人。以上這些人是拉但父系的族長。示每的兒子是雅哈、細撒、耶烏施、比利亞：這四個人是示每的兒子。雅哈是頭一個，第二的是細撒；耶烏施和比利亞的子孫不多，故此只算為一個父系家屬一班的職員。哥轄的兒子是暗蘭、以斯哈、希伯倫、烏薛、四個人。暗蘭的兒子是亞倫、摩西。亞倫和他的子孫是被分別出來的，好長期祝聖至聖之物，好在永恆主面前燻祭，伺候他，永遠奉他的名而祝福。至於神人摩西、他子孫是記在利未族派中的。摩西的兒子是革舜和以利以謝。革舜的兒子頭一個是書巴業。以利以謝的兒子頭一個是利哈比雅；以利以謝沒有別的兒子；利哈比雅的兒子卻很多。以斯哈的兒子頭一個是示羅密。希伯倫的兒子頭一個是耶利雅：第二的是亞瑪利亞，第三的是雅哈悉，第四的是耶加面。烏薛的兒子頭一個是米迦，第二的是耶西雅。米拉利的兒子是抹利、母示；抹利的兒子是以利亞撒、基士。以利亞撒死了、沒有兒子，只有女兒；他們的族弟兄、基士的兒子娶了她們。母示的兒子是末力、以得、耶利摩、三個人。

『你要從利未人中登記哥轄子孫的總數，按他們的宗族、按他們父系的家屬、從三十歲和以上的、直到五十歲，凡能進來服役、在會棚裏作工的都登記上。哥轄子孫在會棚裏對至聖器物所作的工、乃是這樣：當全營要往前行的時候，亞倫和他的兒子們要進去，把遮隔至聖所的帷帳拆卸下來，用來蓋上法櫃；又用塔哈示皮遮蓋物放在上頭，再鋪上純藍紫色的布，然後把杠穿上。在神前桌子上、他們要鋪上藍紫色的布，將盤子、碟子、大盃、跟奠酒的爵擺在上頭，也要有長供餅在桌子上；他們要把朱紅色的布鋪在上面，再蓋上塔哈示皮的遮蓋物，然後把杠穿上。他們要拿藍紫色的布，把燈火臺、帶燈盞、蠟剪和蠟花盤、跟一切盛油的器皿、就是供職用的器皿、都蓋上；他們要把燈臺和燈臺的一切器具包在塔哈示皮的遮蓋物裏，放在抬杠上。在金香壇上他們要鋪上藍紫色的布，再蓋上塔哈示皮的遮蓋物，然後把杠穿上；他們要把在聖所供職用的一切供職器具、包在藍紫色布裏，再蓋上塔哈示皮的遮蓋物，放在抬杠上。他們要把祭壇上的灰收起來，將紫紅色的布鋪在壇上；再把供職對壇所用的一切器具、就是火鼎、鍤子、鏟子、碗：祭壇的一切器具、都擺在上面，又蓋上塔哈示皮，然後把杠穿上。全營將要往前行的時候、亞倫和他的兒子們既把聖所和聖所的一切器具遮蓋完了之後，哥轄的子孫就要來抬，只是不可觸着聖物，免得死亡。會棚裏這些物件是哥轄子孫所應當抬的。祭司亞倫的兒子以利亞撒所應當看管的、是燈火的油、芬芳的香、長供的素祭、和膏油；也要看管整個帳幕、和其中所有的、以及聖所和聖所的器具。』永恆主告訴摩西、亞倫說：『你們不可將哥轄家的族派從利未人中剪滅掉；卻要這樣待他們，讓他們活着，免得死亡：他們挨近至聖的物件時，亞倫和他的兒子們要進去，安排他們各人所應當辦的事務、所應當抬的物件，只是他們連一會兒也不可進去看聖物，免得死亡。』

利未的兒子是革順、哥轄、米拉利。革順的兒子名叫立尼、示每。哥轄的兒子是暗蘭、以斯哈、希伯倫、烏薛。米拉利的兒子是抹利、母示：以上這些人是利未人的家族、按父系排列的。屬革順的子孫如下：革順的兒子是立尼，立尼的兒子是雅哈，雅哈的兒子是薪瑪，薪瑪的兒子是約亞，約亞的兒子是易多，易多的兒子是謝拉，謝拉的兒子是耶特賴。
