Then these Levites set to work: from the Kohathites, Mahath son of Amasai and Joel son of Azariah; from the Merarites, Kish son of Abdi and Azariah son of Jehallelel; from the Gershonites, Joah son of Zimmah and Eden son of Joah;

Here are the Levites who went to work. Mahath and Joel were from the family line of Kohath. Mahath was the son of Amasai. Joel was the son of Azariah. Kish and Azariah were from the family line of Merari. Kish was the son of Abdi. Azariah was the son of Jehallelel. Joah and Eden were from the family line of Gershon. Joah was the son of Zimmah. Eden was the son of Joah.

Then the Levites arose, Mahath the son of Amasai, and Joel the son of Azariah, of the sons of the Kohathites; and of the sons of Merari, Kish the son of Abdi, and Azariah the son of Jehallelel; and of the Gershonites, Joah the son of Zimmah, and Eden the son of Joah;

Then these Levites got right to work: From the clan of Kohath: Mahath son of Amasai and Joel son of Azariah. From the clan of Merari: Kish son of Abdi and Azariah son of Jehallelel. From the clan of Gershon: Joah son of Zimmah and Eden son of Joah.

Then the Levites stood up: Mahath son of Amasai and Joel son of Azariah from the Kohathites; Kish son of Abdi and Azariah son of Jehallelel from the Merarites; Joah son of Zimmah and Eden son of Joah from the Gershonites;

耶歇、亚撒细雅、拿哈、亚撒黑、耶利末、约撒拔、以列、伊斯玛基雅、玛哈、比拿雅都是督理，在歌楠雅和他兄弟示每的手下，是希西家王和管理神殿的亚撒利雅所派的。

革顺的子孙有拉但和示每。拉但的长子是耶歇，还有细坦和约珥，共三人。示每的儿子是示罗密、哈薛、哈兰三人。这是拉但族的族长。示每的儿子是雅哈、细拿、耶乌施、比利亚共四人。雅哈是长子，细撒是次子。但耶乌施和比利亚的子孙不多，所以算为一族。哥辖的儿子是暗兰、以斯哈、希伯伦、乌薛共四人。暗兰的儿子是亚伦、摩西。亚伦和他的子孙分出来，好分别至圣的物，在耶和华面前烧香、侍奉他，奉他的名祝福，直到永远。至于神人摩西，他的子孙名字记在利未支派的册上。摩西的儿子是革舜和以利以谢。革舜的长子是细布业；以利以谢的儿子是利哈比雅。以利以谢没有别的儿子，但利哈比雅的子孙甚多。以斯哈的长子是示罗密。希伯伦的长子是耶利雅，次子是亚玛利亚，三子是雅哈悉，四子是耶加面。乌薛的长子是米迦，次子是耶西雅。米拉利的儿子是抹利、母示。抹利的儿子是以利亚撒、基士。以利亚撒死了，没有儿子，只有女儿，他们本族基士的儿子娶了她们为妻。母示的儿子是末力、以得、耶利摩共三人。

利未众子的名字是革顺、哥辖、米拉利。

哥辖子孙中有族长乌列和他的弟兄一百二十人。米拉利子孙中有族长亚帅雅和他的弟兄二百二十人。革顺子孙中有族长约珥和他的弟兄一百三十人。

“你从利未人中，将哥辖子孙的总数，照他们的家室、宗族，从三十岁直到五十岁，凡前来任职、在会幕里办事的，全都计算。哥辖子孙在会幕搬运至圣之物，所办的事乃是这样：起营的时候，亚伦和他儿子要进去摘下遮掩柜的幔子，用以蒙盖法柜，又用海狗皮盖在上头，再蒙上纯蓝色的毯子，把杠穿上。又用蓝色毯子铺在陈设饼的桌子上，将盘子、调羹、奠酒的爵，和杯摆在上头。桌子上也必有常设的饼。在其上又要蒙朱红色的毯子，再蒙上海狗皮，把杠穿上。要拿蓝色毯子，把灯台和灯台上所用的灯盏、剪子、蜡花盘，并一切盛油的器皿，全都遮盖。又要把灯台和灯台的一切器具包在海狗皮里，放在抬架上。在金坛上要铺蓝色毯子，蒙上海狗皮，把杠穿上。又要把圣所用的一切器具包在蓝色毯子里，用海狗皮蒙上，放在抬架上。要收去坛上的灰，把紫色毯子铺在坛上；又要把所用的一切器具，就是火鼎、肉叉子、铲子、盘子，一切属坛的器具都摆在坛上，又蒙上海狗皮，把杠穿上。将要起营的时候，亚伦和他儿子把圣所和圣所的一切器具遮盖完了，哥辖的子孙就要来抬，只是不可摸圣物，免得他们死亡。会幕里这些物件是哥辖子孙所当抬的。“祭司亚伦的儿子以利亚撒所要看守的是点灯的油与香料，并当献的素祭和膏油，也要看守全帐幕与其中所有的，并圣所和圣所的器具。”耶和华晓谕摩西、亚伦说：“你们不可将哥辖人的支派从利未人中剪除。他们挨近至圣物的时候，亚伦和他儿子要进去派他们各人所当办的，所当抬的。这样待他们，好使他们活着，不致死亡。只是他们连片时不可进去观看圣所，免得他们死亡。”

利未的儿子是革顺、哥辖、米拉利。革顺的儿子名叫立尼、示每。哥辖的儿子是暗兰、以斯哈、希伯伦、乌薛。米拉利的儿子是抹利、母示。这是按着利未人宗族分的各家。革顺的儿子是立尼；立尼的儿子是雅哈；雅哈的儿子是薪玛；薪玛的儿子是约亚；约亚的儿子是易多；易多的儿子是谢拉；谢拉的儿子是耶特赖。
