Then these Levites set to work: from the Kohathites, Mahath son of Amasai and Joel son of Azariah; from the Merarites, Kish son of Abdi and Azariah son of Jehallelel; from the Gershonites, Joah son of Zimmah and Eden son of Joah;

Here are the Levites who went to work. Mahath and Joel were from the family line of Kohath. Mahath was the son of Amasai. Joel was the son of Azariah. Kish and Azariah were from the family line of Merari. Kish was the son of Abdi. Azariah was the son of Jehallelel. Joah and Eden were from the family line of Gershon. Joah was the son of Zimmah. Eden was the son of Joah.

Then the Levites arose, Mahath the son of Amasai, and Joel the son of Azariah, of the sons of the Kohathites; and of the sons of Merari, Kish the son of Abdi, and Azariah the son of Jehallelel; and of the Gershonites, Joah the son of Zimmah, and Eden the son of Joah;

Then these Levites got right to work: From the clan of Kohath: Mahath son of Amasai and Joel son of Azariah. From the clan of Merari: Kish son of Abdi and Azariah son of Jehallelel. From the clan of Gershon: Joah son of Zimmah and Eden son of Joah.

Then the Levites stood up: Mahath son of Amasai and Joel son of Azariah from the Kohathites; Kish son of Abdi and Azariah son of Jehallelel from the Merarites; Joah son of Zimmah and Eden son of Joah from the Gershonites;

革顺的子孙（“革顺的子孙”直译是“属于革顺人的”）有拉但和示每。拉但的儿子是：长子耶歇，还有西坦和约珥，共三人。示每的儿子有示罗密、哈薛和哈兰，共三人。以上这些人是拉但家族的首领。示每的儿子是雅哈、细拿、耶乌施和比利亚；这四人都是示每的儿子。雅哈是长子，细撒是次子；耶乌施和比利亚的子孙不多，所以合为一个家族，同归一个班次。哥辖的儿子是暗兰、以斯哈、希伯伦和乌薛，共四人。暗兰的儿子是亚伦和摩西。亚伦和他的子孙永远被分别出来，献上至圣之物；在耶和华面前烧香，服事他，奉他的名祝福，直到永远。至于神人摩西，他的子孙记在利未支派的册上。摩西的儿子是革舜和以利以谢。革舜的长子是细布业。以利以谢的第一个儿子是利哈比雅；以利以谢没有别的儿子，利哈比雅却有很多儿子。以斯哈的长子是示罗密。希伯伦的儿子是：长子耶利雅、次子亚玛利亚、三子雅哈悉、四子耶加面。乌薛的儿子是：长子米迦、次子耶西雅。米拉利的儿子是抹利和母示；抹利的儿子是以利亚撒和基士。以利亚撒死了，没有儿子，只有女儿；基士的儿子们，就是他们的亲族，娶了她们为妻。母示的儿子是末力、以得和耶利摩，共三人。

利未众子的名字是：革顺、哥辖、米拉利。

哥辖子孙中有作领袖的乌列和他的亲族一百二十人；米拉利子孙中有作领袖的亚帅雅和他的亲族二百二十人；革顺的子孙中有作领袖的约珥和他的亲族一百三十人；

“你要从利未人中，登记哥辖子孙的总数，照着他们的家族、父家，从三十岁以上，直到五十岁，能进来供职，在会幕里工作的，你都要登记。哥辖子孙在会幕里的工作就是管理至圣之物。起营出发的时候，亚伦和他的儿子要进去，把遮盖至圣所的幔子卸下来，用来遮盖约柜；又把海狗皮罩盖在上面，再铺上纯蓝色的布，然后把杠穿上。在陈设饼的桌子上，他们要铺上蓝色布，把盘子、碟子、杯和奠酒的爵摆在上面，桌子上也必须有常献饼；在这些物件上面，他们要铺上朱红色布，再盖上海狗皮罩，然后把杠穿上。他们要拿蓝色布，把灯台和灯台上的灯盏、剪子、蜡花盘，以及为灯台所用一切盛油的器具遮盖起来。他们又要把灯台和灯台的一切器具，都包在海狗皮里，然后放在抬架上。在金坛上面，他们要铺上蓝色布，再盖上海狗皮罩，然后把杠穿上。他们又要把圣所里供职使用的一切器具，都包在蓝色布里，再盖上海狗皮罩，然后放在抬架上。他们要清除坛上的灰，把紫色布铺在坛上。又要把在坛上供职使用的一切器具，就是火鼎、肉叉、铲子、盘子，都摆在上面；再盖上海狗皮罩，然后穿上杠。全营出发的时候，亚伦和他的儿子，把圣所和圣所的一切器具遮盖完了以后，哥辖的子孙就要来抬；只是他们不可触摸圣物，免得他们死亡。会幕里这些物件是哥辖的子孙应当抬的。亚伦祭司的儿子以利亚撒的职务是看管点灯的油、芬芳的香、常献的素祭和膏油，也要看管整个帐幕和其中所有的一切，以及圣所和圣所的器具。”耶和华对摩西和亚伦说：“你们不可把哥辖家族的派系从利未人中剪除；他们接近至圣之物的时候，亚伦和他的儿子要进去，指定他们各人当办的和当抬的工作；你们要这样待他们，好让他们活着，不至死亡；只是他们连片刻也不可进去观看圣物，免得他们死亡。”

利未的儿子是革顺、哥辖和米拉利。（本节在《马索拉文本》为6:1）革顺的儿子名叫立尼和示每。哥辖的儿子是暗兰、以斯哈、希伯伦和乌薛。米拉利的儿子是抹利和母示。以上这些是利未人各宗族的各家。革顺的子孙如下：革顺的儿子是立尼，立尼的儿子是雅哈，雅哈的儿子是薪玛，薪玛的儿子是约亚，约亚的儿子是易多，易多的儿子是谢拉，谢拉的儿子是耶特赖。
