告訴他要謹慎鎮定，不要害怕，不要因亞蘭王利迅和利瑪利的兒子的怒氣而膽怯，他們不過是兩個冒煙的火把頭。亞蘭王和以法蓮及利瑪利的兒子陰謀毀滅他，

「祂要使你們被敵人擊敗、潰不成軍、四散逃命，下場令天下萬國驚懼。

你們如果違背你們的上帝耶和華吩咐你們遵守的約，去供奉、祭拜別的神明，祂必向你們發怒，使你們在祂所賜的這美好土地上迅速滅亡。」

那時，耶和華差遣亞蘭王利汛和利瑪利的兒子比加攻打猶大。

萬國必問，『耶和華為什麼要這樣對待這地方？祂為什麼大發烈怒？』必有人回答說，『因為這地方的人背棄了他們祖先的上帝耶和華領他們出埃及時與他們所立的約，去供奉、祭拜他們所不認識、並非耶和華所分派的神明。

以色列的都城是撒瑪利亞，撒瑪利亞的首領是利瑪利的兒子。你們信心若不堅定，必無法堅立。』」

大地被世人玷污，他們違犯律法，不守律例，背棄永遠的約。所以大地必遭受咒詛，世人必因罪而受懲罰。他們必被焚燒，所剩無幾。

「你們若不聽從你們的上帝耶和華，不謹遵祂今天藉我吩咐你們的一切誡命和律例，祂必使以下的咒詛臨到你們。

說，『這墮落的子民，不忠的兒女！我要掩面不理他們，看他們的結局如何。

他便出來迎接亞撒，對他說：「亞撒啊，所有的猶大人和便雅憫人啊，請聽我說！你們若順從耶和華，祂必與你們同在。你們若尋求祂，祂必讓你們尋見。你們若背棄祂，祂必離棄你們。

你必因自己的罪惡而受懲罰，因自己的背叛而受責備。因此，你要省察且明白，背棄你的上帝耶和華、不敬畏我是多麼邪惡、痛苦。這是萬軍之耶和華說的。

你背棄我，遠離我，因此我要伸手攻擊你，毀滅你，不再憐憫你。這是耶和華說的。

但叛逆之輩和犯罪之徒必遭毀滅，背棄耶和華的人必滅亡。

不可隨從周圍各族的神明，免得你們的上帝耶和華向你們發怒，把你們從世上消滅；因為祂住在你們當中，祂痛恨不貞。

亞比雅和他的軍隊大敗以色列人，殲滅了他們五十萬精兵。

耶和華對摩西說：「你快要與祖先同眠了。這些百姓將很快在要佔領的土地上與外族人的神明苟合，背棄我，違背我與他們所立的約。那時，我要向他們發怒，離棄他們，掩面不理他們。他們將被吞滅，遭遇許多禍患和災難，以致他們會說，『這些禍患臨到我們豈不是因為上帝不在我們中間了嗎？』
