亞哈斯王把盆座四面的嵌邊拆下來，把盆從座上挪下來，又將銅海從馱銅海的銅牛上搬下來，放在石板鋪的地上。他為了亞述王的緣故，在耶和華的殿裏移動殿裏為安息日所蓋的遮棚和王從外面進來的入口。

耶和華殿的銅柱並殿內的盆座和銅海，迦勒底人都打碎了，把那些銅運到巴比倫去。他們又帶走鍋、鏟子、鉗子、勺子和供奉用的一切銅器；火盆和碗，無論金的銀的，護衛長都帶走了；還有所羅門為耶和華殿所造的兩根柱子、一個銅海和盆座，這一切器皿的銅多得無法可秤。這一根柱子高十八肘，柱上有銅頂，銅頂高三肘；銅頂的周圍有網子和石榴，也都是銅的。第二根柱子與此相同，也有網子。

你為自己做的神明在哪裏呢？你遭遇患難的時候，讓它們起來拯救你吧！猶大啊，你神明的數目與你城的數目相等。

元年正月，他開了耶和華殿的門，重新整修。

保羅在雅典等候他們的時候，看見滿城都是偶像，就心裏非常難過。

基列沒有罪孽嗎？他們誠然是虛假的，在吉甲獻牛犢為祭；他們的祭壇如同田間犁溝中的亂堆。

我到處走走的時候，仔細觀察你們所敬拜的，發現一座壇，上面寫着『獻給未識之神明』。你們所不認識而敬拜的，我現在向你們宣告：
