祭大馬色之上帝、彼以為亞蘭列王之上帝助亞蘭王以陷我、我亦獻祭、望其助我、是自取罪戾、害及以色列族眾。

He offered sacrifices to the gods of Damascus, who had defeated him; for he thought,“ Since the gods of the kings of Aram have helped them, I will sacrifice to them so they will help me.” But they were his downfall and the downfall of all Israel.

Ahaz offered sacrifices to the gods of Damascus. They had won the battle over him. Ahaz thought,“ The gods of the kings of Aram have helped them. So I’ll sacrifice to those gods. Then they’ll help me.” But those gods only caused his ruin. In fact, those gods caused the ruin of the whole nation of Israel.

For he sacrificed to the gods of Damascus that had defeated him and said,“ Because the gods of the kings of Syria helped them, I will sacrifice to them that they may help me.” But they were the ruin of him and of all Israel.

He offered sacrifices to the gods of Damascus who had defeated him, for he said,“ Since these gods helped the kings of Aram, they will help me, too, if I sacrifice to them.” But instead, they led to his ruin and the ruin of all Judah.

亞瑪謝擊以東人而歸、攜西珥族之神、設為己神、叩拜其前、為之焚香、

眾中有人知其妻焚香於他神、遂與旁立眾多之婦女、並居伊及地巴忒羅之民眾、答耶利米曰、爾託主名所傳於我之言、我不聽從、必循我口所出之言而為、必焚香灌奠、奉事天后、循我平日所為、循昔我列祖與王公、在猶大諸邑、在耶路撒冷街衢所為、當時我得飽食享福、不遇患難、自我不焚香灌奠、奉事天后、我則缺乏一切、又遇鋒刃饑饉而亡、

於是其心尤為狂傲、前驅造孽、以勢力為神、

以色列乎、爾背叛我、背叛救爾之主、即自取敗壞、

按鏇法作之、立如巴勒瑪樹、不能言、不能行、藉人肩負、不能降災、亦不能降福、爾勿畏之、

王自大瑪色至、見祭臺、則近於祭臺前、獻祭於其上、焚其火焚祭、素祭、又奠酒、以平安祭牲之血、灑於祭臺上、

耶利米告答之之諸男女庶民曰、爾曹與爾列祖、王公、及國中眾民、在猶大諸邑、在耶路撒冷街衢、若是焚香、主悉思念、記憶在心、因爾之惡行、因爾所作可憎之事、主不能復容忍、故使爾土地荒蕪、令人驚駭、受咒詛、無人居處、有如今日之景象、因爾焚香、獲罪於主、不聽從主命、不遵行主之律例典章法度、故爾遭遇此災、有如今日之景象、耶利米又告眾民及眾婦女曰、猶大人眾、居伊及地者、須聽主言、萬有之主以色列之天主如是云、爾與爾妻、口曾出言曰、我曾許願焚香灌奠、奉事天后、必償我願、爾曹果循爾口所言、以手成之、執意償爾之願、今爾曹居伊及之眾猶大人、宜聽主言、主曰、我指己之大名而誓、遍伊及所有之猶大人、不使其一人復稱我名曰、我指主耶和華永生而誓云、主又曰、我決意降之以禍、不降之以福、凡在伊及之猶大人、必亡於鋒刃饑饉、殲滅殆盡、其得脫於鋒刃、自伊及地復歸猶大地者、數人而已、厥後猶大遺民、至伊及以居者、必知誰之言應驗、我之言歟、抑彼之言歟、

悖逆者與獲罪者、同歸敗亡、凡棄主者必至消滅、
