亞哈斯拿耶和華殿裡和王宮寶庫內找到的金子和銀子，送給亞述王作禮物。於是亞述王答應了他。亞述王上去攻打大馬士革，把城攻取，把居民擄到吉珥，又把利汛殺死了。

於是埃及王示撒上來攻打耶路撒冷，奪取了耶和華殿和王宮裡的寶物，把它們全部帶走，又奪去了所羅門所做的金盾牌。

如果有人輕率地說：“這是歸神為聖之物”，許願以後才重新考慮，就是自陷網羅。
