The men designated by name took the prisoners, and from the plunder they clothed all who were naked. They provided them with clothes and sandals, food and drink, and healing balm. All those who were weak they put on donkeys. So they took them back to their fellow Israelites at Jericho, the City of Palms, and returned to Samaria.

Azariah, Berekiah, Jehizkiah and Amasa received the prisoners. From the goods that had been taken, they gave clothes to everyone who was naked. They gave them clothes, sandals, food, drink and healing lotion. They put all the weak people on donkeys. They took them back to their relatives at Jericho. Then they returned to Samaria. Jericho was also known as the City of Palm Trees.

And the men who have been mentioned by name rose and took the captives, and with the spoil they clothed all who were naked among them. They clothed them, gave them sandals, provided them with food and drink, and anointed them, and carrying all the feeble among them on donkeys, they brought them to their kinsfolk at Jericho, the city of palm trees. 如果有弟兄姊妹缺衣少食，你們只是對他們說：「安心走吧，願你們穿得暖，吃得飽」，卻不幫助他解決實際困難，這有什麼用呢？

並且在善事上有好名聲，如教養兒女、接待外人、服侍聖徒、救助困苦、竭力做各種善事。

所以，「你的仇敵若餓了，就給他吃的；若渴了，就給他喝的；你這樣做是把炭火堆在他頭上。」你不可被惡所勝，反要以善勝惡。

耶穌上岸後，迎面遇見當地一個被鬼附身的人。那人長期赤身露體，不住在房屋裡，只住在墓穴中。

「但是，我告訴你們這些聽道的人，要愛你們的仇敵，要善待恨你們的人，

彼得便隨他們一同到了那裡，有人領他上樓。眾寡婦都站在彼得周圍哭，並把多加生前縫制的內衣、外衣給他看。

因為我饑餓時，你們給我吃的；我口渴時，你們給我喝的；我身在異鄉時，你們接待我；我赤身露體時，你們給我穿的；我生病時，你們照顧我；我坐牢時，你們來看我。』「那些義人會回答說，『主啊！我們什麼時候見你餓了就給你吃的？見你渴了就給你喝的？見你身在異鄉就接待你？見你赤身露體就給你穿的呢？我們又什麼時候見你生病或坐牢，就去看你呢？』「王會回答說，『我實在告訴你們，你們幫助我最卑微的一個弟兄，就是幫助我了。』「王又對左邊的人說，『你們這些被咒詛的人，走開！到專為魔鬼及其使者預備的永遠不滅的火裡去吧！因為我饑餓時，你們不給我吃的；我口渴時，你們不給我喝的；我身在異鄉時，你們不接待我；我赤身露體時，你們不給我衣服；我生病時，你們不照顧我；我坐牢時，你們不來看我。』「他們會問，『主啊，我們什麼時候見你餓了，或渴了，或身在異鄉，或赤身露體，或病了，或坐牢，卻沒有幫助你呢？』「王會回答說，『我實在告訴你們，你們沒有幫助我最卑微的一個弟兄，就是沒有幫助我。』

人們出來看個究竟，到了耶穌那裡，發現那曾被鬼附身的人衣著整齊、神智清醒地坐在耶穌腳前，他們都很害怕。

祂創造了我，豈不也創造了他們？豈不是同一位使我們在母腹中成胎？我何曾拒絕窮人的請求，或使寡婦眼露失望之情，或獨吞我的食物，不與孤兒同享？我自幼就如父親般撫養孤兒，我自出母胎就照顧寡婦。倘若我見有人凍得要死，或有窮人衣不蔽體，卻沒有把我的羊毛給他們禦寒，以致他們向我道謝；倘若我仗著在城門口有勢力，就動手欺負孤兒，情願我的肩膀從肩胛脫落，我的手臂從手肘折斷。因為我懼怕上帝降災禍，我無法承擔祂的威嚴。

如果一個豐衣足食的人看見貧窮的弟兄姊妹，卻毫無憐憫之心，怎能說他愛上帝呢？所以，孩子們啊，不要單在口頭上說愛人，總要以真誠的行動表現出來。
