Ahaz was twenty years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem sixteen years. Unlike David his father, he did not do what was right in the eyes of the Lord.

Ahaz was 20 years old when he became king. He ruled in Jerusalem for 16 years. He didn’t do what was right in the eyes of the Lord. He didn’t do what King David had done.

利玛利的儿子比加第十七年，犹大王约坦的儿子亚哈斯登基。他登基的时候年二十岁，在耶路撒冷作王十六年。他不像他祖先大卫行耶和华—他上帝眼中看为正的事，却行以色列诸王的道，又照着耶和华从以色列人面前赶出的外邦人所行可憎的事，使他的儿子经火，并在丘坛上、山冈上、各青翠树下献祭烧香。那时，亚兰王利汛和利玛利的儿子以色列王比加上来攻打耶路撒冷，围困亚哈斯，却不能打胜。当时亚兰王利汛收复以拉他回归亚兰，把犹大人从以拉他赶出去。以东人来到以拉他，住在那里，直到今日。亚哈斯派使者到亚述王提革拉‧毗列色那里，说：“我是你的仆人，你的儿子。现在亚兰王和以色列王攻击我，求你上来，救我脱离他们的手。”亚哈斯将耶和华殿里和王宫府库里所有的金银都送给亚述王为礼物。亚述王答应了他，上去攻打大马士革，攻下了城，杀了利汛，把居民掳到吉珥。亚哈斯王到大马士革迎接亚述王提革拉‧毗列色，在大马士革看见一座坛。亚哈斯王把坛的规模和样式，以及作法的细节，送到乌利亚祭司那里。乌利亚祭司照着亚哈斯王从大马士革所送来的一切，在亚哈斯王还未从大马士革回来之前，筑了一座坛。王从大马士革回来，看见坛，走近坛前，在坛上献祭。他烧燔祭和素祭，献浇酒祭，将平安祭牲的血洒在坛上。他移动耶和华面前的铜坛，从殿的前面，新坛和耶和华殿的中间，搬到新坛的北边。亚哈斯王吩咐乌利亚祭司说：“早晨的燔祭、晚上的素祭，王的燔祭、素祭，国内众百姓的燔祭、素祭、浇酒祭都要烧在大坛上。燔祭牲和其他祭牲的血全都要洒在这坛上。至于铜坛，我要作求问之用。”乌利亚祭司就照着亚哈斯王所吩咐的一切做了。亚哈斯王把盆座四面的嵌边拆下来，把盆从座上挪下来，又将铜海从驮铜海的铜牛上搬下来，放在石板铺的地上。他为了亚述王的缘故，在耶和华的殿里移动殿里为安息日所盖的遮棚和王从外面进来的入口。亚哈斯其余所做的事，不都写在《犹大列王记》上吗？亚哈斯与他祖先同睡，与他祖先同葬在大卫城，他儿子希西家接续他作王。

耶和华与约沙法同在，因为他行他祖先大卫从前所行的道，不去寻求诸巴力，

乌西雅的孙子，约坦的儿子，犹大王亚哈斯在位的时候，亚兰王利汛和利玛利的儿子以色列王比加上来攻打耶路撒冷，却不能攻取。有人告诉大卫家说：“亚兰与以法莲已经结盟。”王的心和百姓的心就都颤动，好像林中的树被风吹动一样。耶和华对以赛亚说：“你和你的儿子施亚‧雅述要出去，到上池的水沟尽头，往漂布地的大路上，迎见亚哈斯，对他说：‘你要谨慎，要镇定，不要害怕，不要因利汛和亚兰，以及利玛利的儿子这两个冒烟火把的头所发的烈怒而心里胆怯。因为亚兰、以法莲，和利玛利的儿子设恶谋要害你，说：我们要上去攻击犹大，扰乱它，攻破它来归我们，在其中立他比勒的儿子为王。主耶和华如此说：这事必站立不住，也不得成就。因为亚兰的首都是大马士革，大马士革的领袖是利汛；六十五年之内，以法莲必然国破族亡，以法莲的首都是撒玛利亚；撒玛利亚的领袖是利玛利的儿子。你们若是不信，必站立不稳。’”耶和华又吩咐亚哈斯：“你向耶和华—你的上帝求一个预兆：在阴间的深渊，或往上的高处。”但亚哈斯说：“我不求；我不试探耶和华。”
