But after Uzziah became powerful, his pride led to his downfall. He was unfaithful to the Lord his God, and entered the temple of the Lord to burn incense on the altar of incense.

你心裡說你擊敗了以東人，你就心裡驕傲，以這事誇口。現在你留在家裡吧，為甚麼要惹禍，使猶大和你一同覆亡呢？”

在滅亡以先，必有驕傲；在跌倒以前，心中高傲。

恐怕你心裡說：‘這財富是我的力量，是我手的能力使我得著的。’

迦勒底人自高自大，心不正直；然而義人必因信得生（“必因信得生”或譯：“必因他的信實得生”）。

那時，你就心高氣傲，忘記了耶和華你的神，就是把你從埃及地，從為奴之家領出來的那一位。

不要讓人奪去你們的獎賞，他們以故意謙卑，敬拜天使為樂；迷於自己所見過的；憑著肉體的意念，無故地自高自大；

利未的曾孫、哥轄的孫子、以斯哈的兒子可拉，和流本子孫中以利押的兒子大坍、亞比蘭，與比勒的兒子安，帶著人來，

不錯，你打敗了以東人，你的心就高傲。你儘管自己誇耀，安坐家中就是了。為甚麼要惹禍，使你覆亡，也使猶大跟你一起覆亡呢？”

耶和華使他乘駕地的高處，得吃田間的土產；又使他從巖石中吸蜜，從堅固的磐石中取油。也吃牛酪和羊乳，羊羔的脂肪，巴珊的公牛和公山羊，以及上好的麥子；也喝了葡萄汁釀成的酒。但耶書崙肥胖了，就踢跳，‘你肥胖了，你粗壯了，你飽滿了，’他離棄了造他的神，輕看了救他的磐石。

八月十五日，就是他心裡私定作為以色列人節期的日子，他在伯特利在自己所建的祭壇上獻祭燒香。有一個神人，奉耶和華的命令，從猶大來到伯特利；那時，耶羅波安正站在祭壇旁邊燒香。神人奉耶和華的命令，向那祭壇喊叫，說：“祭壇哪，祭壇哪，耶和華這樣說：‘看哪，大衛家要生一個兒子，名叫約西亞；他要把邱壇的祭司，就是在你上面燒香的，作祭物獻在你上面。人的骨頭也要在你上面焚燒。’”那天，神人提出一個兆頭，說：“這是耶和華所說的兆頭。看哪，這祭壇必破裂，祭壇上的灰必傾撒下來。”耶羅波安王聽見神人向伯特利的祭壇喊叫的話，就從祭壇上伸手，說：“抓住他！”王向他伸出的手卻癱瘓了，不能縮回來。

於是，他們各人拿著自己的香爐，盛上火，加上香，與摩西和亞倫一同站在會幕門口。

又有火從耶和華那裡出來，把那獻香的二百五十個人吞滅了。

明天你們要在耶和華面前，把火盛在爐中，把香放在上面；耶和華揀選誰，誰就是聖潔的，你們利未人太過分了。”

王從大馬士革回來，看見了那祭壇，於是王走到祭壇旁邊，登上臺階，燒他的燔祭和素祭，又澆上他的奠祭，並且把他的平安祭牲的血灑在祭壇上。
