Jehoash king of Israel captured Amaziah king of Judah, the son of Joash, the son of Ahaziah, at Beth Shemesh. Then Jehoash brought him to Jerusalem and broke down the wall of Jerusalem from the Ephraim Gate to the Corner Gate— a section about four hundred cubits long.

Jehoash king of Israel captured Amaziah king of Judah at Beth Shemesh. Amaziah was the son of Joash. Joash was the son of Ahaziah. Jehoash brought Amaziah to Jerusalem. Jehoash broke down part of its wall. It’s the part that went from the Ephraim Gate to the Corner Gate. That part of the wall was 600 feet long.

And Joash king of Israel captured Amaziah king of Judah, the son of Joash, son of Ahaziah, at Beth-shemesh, and brought him to Jerusalem and broke down the wall of Jerusalem for 400 cubits, from the Ephraim Gate to the Corner Gate.

King Jehoash of Israel captured Judah’s king, Amaziah son of Joash and grandson of Ahaziah, at Beth shemesh. Then he brought him to Jerusalem, where he demolished 600 feet of Jerusalem’s wall, from the Ephraim Gate to the Corner Gate.

他們上來攻擊猶大，侵入境內，擄掠了王宮裏所有的財物和他的妻妾、兒女，除了他的小兒子約哈斯之外，沒有留下一個兒子。

於是百姓出去，取了樹枝來，各人在自己的房頂上、院子裏、神殿的院內、水門的廣場和以法蓮門的廣場搭棚。

耶路撒冷的居民立約蘭的小兒子亞哈謝接續他作王，因為跟隨阿拉伯人來攻營的軍兵把亞哈謝所有的兄長都殺了；猶大王約蘭的兒子亞哈謝就作了王。

又過了以法蓮門、古門、魚門、哈楠業樓、哈米亞樓，直到羊門，就在護衛門站住。

看哪，日子將到，這城必為耶和華而造，從哈楠業樓直到角門。這是耶和華說的。

烏西雅在耶路撒冷的角門和谷門，以及城牆轉角之處建築城樓，非常堅固。

你狂傲的心欺騙了你，你住在巖穴，居所在高處，心裏說：「誰能把我拉下來到地上呢？」

因為凡自高的，必降為卑；自甘卑微的，必升為高。」

人的高傲使自己蒙羞；心裏謙遜的，必得尊榮。

過了一年，尼布甲尼撒王差遣人將約雅斤和耶和華殿裏寶貴的器皿帶到巴比倫，然後立約雅斤的叔父西底家作猶大和耶路撒冷的王。

現在我－尼布甲尼撒讚美、尊崇、恭敬天上的王，因為他所行的全都信實，他所做的盡都公平。那行事驕傲的，他能降為卑。」

巴比倫王尼布甲尼撒上來攻擊他，用銅鏈鎖着他，要把他帶到巴比倫去。

驕傲在敗壞以先，內心高傲在跌倒之前。

所以耶和華使亞述王的將領來攻擊他們，用手銬銬住瑪拿西，用銅鏈鎖住他，把他帶到巴比倫去。

他回到耶斯列，醫治在拉末與亞蘭王哈薛打仗時被擊打所受的傷。約蘭的兒子猶大王亞哈謝因為亞哈的兒子約蘭病了，就下到耶斯列看望他。
