Jehoash king of Israel captured Amaziah king of Judah, the son of Joash, the son of Ahaziah, at Beth Shemesh. Then Jehoash brought him to Jerusalem and broke down the wall of Jerusalem from the Ephraim Gate to the Corner Gate— a section about four hundred cubits long.

Jehoash broke down part of its wall. It’s the part that went from the Ephraim Gate to the Corner Gate. That part of the wall was 600 feet long.

And Joash king of Israel captured Amaziah king of Judah, the son of Joash, son of Ahaziah, at Beth-shemesh, and brought him to Jerusalem and broke down the wall of Jerusalem for 400 cubits, from the Ephraim Gate to the Corner Gate.

他們上來攻擊猶大，闖進境內，擄掠了王宮所有的財物，以及他的兒女、妻子；除了他的小兒子約哈斯之外、沒有給他剩下一個兒子。

於是人民出去取來，各人在自己的房頂上搭了樹枝棚子，或是在自己的院子裏，或是在上帝的院中，或是在水門廣場上，或是以法蓮門廣場上。

耶路撒冷的居民立了約蘭的小兒子亞哈謝接替他作王；因為那些跟亞拉伯人來攻營的遊擊隊曾經將亞哈謝的兄長們殺掉了。這樣、猶大王約蘭的兒子亞哈謝、就作了王。

過了以法蓮門、舊城的門、魚門、哈楠業譙樓、哈米亞譙樓，直到羊門，就在護衛監門站住。

『看吧，日子必到，永恆主發神諭說，這城必給永恆主重建起來，從哈楠業譙樓直到角門。

烏西雅在耶路撒冷的角門、谷門、和城牆的拐角處建造了譙樓，並且將譙樓防守得很堅固。

你這住巖石的密洞中、建居所於高處的啊，你心裏說：「誰能將我拉下地呢？」你心中的傲慢氣把你欺騙了。

因為凡自高的必被降卑；自己謙卑的必被升高。』

人的驕傲必使他降為卑微；心裏謙卑的、必獲得尊榮。

到了年頭、尼布甲尼撒差遣了人將約雅斤帶到巴比倫，連同永恆主殿裏珍寶的器皿都帶去；他就立約雅斤的叔叔西底家作王來管理猶大和耶路撒冷。

現在我，尼布甲尼撒、稱頌、尊崇、歸榮耀於天上的王，因為他所作的全都對，他所行的也都公平；他能把行為驕傲的降為卑微。』

巴比倫王尼布甲尼撒上來攻擊他，用銅鍊鎖着他，要將他帶到巴比倫去。

先狂傲、然後遭破毁；先有高傲之氣、然後就跌倒。

因此永恆主使亞述王的將軍來攻擊他們，用鐃鈎鈎住瑪拿西，用銅鍊鎖着他，將他帶到巴比倫去。

約蘭回到耶斯列去醫治他在拉末跟亞蘭王哈薛交戰時亞蘭人所給他的擊傷。猶大王約蘭的兒子亞哈謝因為亞哈的兒子約蘭病了，就下到耶斯列去看望他。
