Jehoash king of Israel captured Amaziah king of Judah, the son of Joash, the son of Ahaziah, at Beth Shemesh. Then Jehoash brought him to Jerusalem and broke down the wall of Jerusalem from the Ephraim Gate to the Corner Gate— a section about four hundred cubits long.

Jehoash king of Israel captured Amaziah king of Judah at Beth Shemesh. Amaziah was the son of Joash. Joash was the son of Ahaziah. Jehoash brought Amaziah to Jerusalem. Jehoash broke down part of its wall. It’s the part that went from the Ephraim Gate to the Corner Gate. That part of the wall was 600 feet long.

And Joash king of Israel captured Amaziah king of Judah, the son of Joash, son of Ahaziah, at Beth-shemesh, and brought him to Jerusalem and broke down the wall of Jerusalem for 400 cubits, from the Ephraim Gate to the Corner Gate.

King Jehoash of Israel captured Judah’s king, Amaziah son of Joash and grandson of Ahaziah, at Beth shemesh. Then he brought him to Jerusalem, where he demolished 600 feet of Jerusalem’s wall, from the Ephraim Gate to the Corner Gate.

他們上來攻打猶大，侵入境內，掠去了王宮的一切財物，又擄去了他的眾子和妻妾；除了他最小的兒子約哈斯以外，沒有給他留下一個兒子。

於是眾民出去，把樹枝帶回來，各人在自己的房頂上，在院子裡，神的院中，水門的廣場，或是在以法蓮門的廣場搭棚。

耶路撒冷的居民立了約蘭的小兒子亞哈謝接續他作王；因為那些和阿拉伯人同來攻營的匪徒，把亞哈謝的哥哥全都殺了。這樣，猶大王約蘭的兒子亞哈謝就作了王。

過了以法蓮門、古門、魚門、哈楠業樓、哈米亞樓，直到羊門，就在護衛院的門前站住。

“看哪！日子快到（這是耶和華的宣告），這城從哈楠業城樓直到角門，必為耶和華重建起來。

烏西雅在耶路撒冷的角門、谷門和城牆轉角的地方，建築了城樓，這些城樓非常堅固。

你心中的傲氣欺騙了你；你這住在巖石的隱密處，居所在高處的啊！你心裡說：“誰能把我拉下地呢？”

因為凡高抬自己的，必要降卑；自己謙卑的，必要升高。”

人的驕傲必使他卑微；心裡謙卑的，必得尊榮。

過了年，尼布甲尼撒派人去把約雅斤和耶和華殿裡的珍貴的器皿，一起帶到巴比倫來。他立了約雅斤的叔叔西底家，作猶大和耶路撒冷的王。

現在我尼布甲尼撒讚美、尊崇、榮耀天上的王，因為他所作的一切都正確，他所行的也都公平；行為驕傲的，他都能貶低。”

巴比倫王尼布甲尼撒上來攻打他，用銅鍊鎖住他，把他帶到巴比倫去。

在滅亡以先，必有驕傲；在跌倒以前，心中高傲。

因此耶和華領亞述王的將帥來攻打他們，用鈎子鈎著瑪拿西，用銅鍊鎖住他，把他帶到巴比倫去。

於是約蘭回到耶斯列去，醫治他在拉末和亞蘭王交戰的時候所受的傷。猶大王約蘭的兒子亞哈謝，(“亞哈謝”：多數希伯來文抄本作“亞撒利雅”，可能是抄寫之誤或“亞哈謝”的另一種寫法；現根據各古譯本、十多份希伯來文抄本及王下8:29翻譯)，因亞哈的兒子約蘭病了，就下到耶斯列去看他。
