你们要观察：车若直行过以色列的边界，上到伯‧示麦去，这大灾祸就是耶和华降在我们身上的；若不然，我们就知道，这不是他的手击打我们，而是我们偶然遭遇的。”

亚因和城的郊外、淤他和城的郊外，以及伯‧示麦和城的郊外，共九座城，都是从这二支派中分出来的。

耶和华击杀伯‧示麦人，因为他们观看他的约柜。他击杀了百姓七十人。百姓因耶和华大大击杀他们，就哀哭了。伯‧示麦人说：“谁能在耶和华这位圣洁的上帝面前侍立呢？这约柜可以从我们这里上到谁那里去呢？”
