你們要觀察：車若直行過以色列的邊界，上到伯‧示麥去，這大災禍就是耶和華降在我們身上的；若不然，我們就知道，這不是他的手擊打我們，而是我們偶然遭遇的。」

亞因和城的郊外、淤他和城的郊外，以及伯‧示麥和城的郊外，共九座城，都是從這二支派中分出來的。

耶和華擊殺伯‧示麥人，因為他們觀看他的約櫃。他擊殺了百姓七十人。百姓因耶和華大大擊殺他們，就哀哭了。伯‧示麥人說：「誰能在耶和華這位聖潔的神面前侍立呢？這約櫃可以從我們這裏上到誰那裏去呢？」
