You brag that you have won the battle over Edom. You are very proud. But stay home! Why ask for trouble? Why bring yourself crashing down? Why bring Judah down with you?”

你说：‘看哪，我打败了以东人’，你就心高气傲，以致矜夸。你在家里安居就罢了，为何要惹祸使自己和犹大国一同败亡呢？”

你说，看哪，你打败了以东，就心高气傲，以此为荣。现在，你待在家里算了吧，为何要惹祸使自己和犹大一同败亡呢？”

你说，看哪，你打败了以东，就心高气傲，以此为荣。现在，你待在家里算了吧，为何要惹祸使自己和犹大一同败亡呢？”

你打败了以东人就趾高气扬。你还是待在家里吧，何必惹祸上身，使你和犹大一同灭亡呢？”

你心里说你击败了以东人，你就心里骄傲，以这事夸口。现在你留在家里吧，为什么要惹祸，使犹大和你一同覆亡呢？”

你說：『看哪，我打敗了以東人』，你就心高氣傲，以致矜誇。你在家裏安居就罷了，為何要惹禍使自己和猶大國一同敗亡呢？」

你說，看哪，你打敗了以東，就心高氣傲，以此為榮。現在，你待在家裏算了吧，為何要惹禍使自己和猶大一同敗亡呢？」

你心裏說：「嘿，你看！我擊敗了以東人了」，你就心高氣傲，自以為榮；現在你只好在家裏呆着吧；又為甚麼要惹禍，使你覆亡，使你和猶大國跟你一同覆亡呢？』

爾謂我已擊以東人、乃心高而自誇、安居於家可耳、何為招禍、以致傾覆、猶大與爾偕亡乎、

今王既擊以東人、中心驕奢、深居九重、亦可已矣。何為自取其禍、欲與猶大族偕亡。

爾曰、已擊以東人、遂中心驕傲、以此矜誇、以此矜誇或作欲以得榮爾安居於宮猶可、何為自取其禍、致己與猶大國偕亡乎、

You say to yourself that you have defeated Edom, and now you are arrogant and proud. But stay at home! Why ask for trouble and cause your own downfall and that of Judah also?”

You say,‘ See, I have struck down Edom,’ and your heart has lifted you up in boastfulness. But now stay at home. Why should you provoke trouble so that you fall, you and Judah with you?”

“ You are saying,‘ I have defeated Edom,’ and you are very proud of it. But my advice is to stay at home. Why stir up trouble that will only bring disaster on you and the people of Judah?”

You have said,‘ Look, I have defeated Edom,’ and you have become overconfident that you will get glory. Now stay at home. Why stir up such trouble so that you fall and Judah with you?”

You said,‘ Behold, you have defeated Edom.’ And your heart has lifted you up in boasting. Now stay home; why should you provoke trouble so that you, would fall, you and Judah with you?”

Indeed you say that you have defeated the Edomites, and your heart is lifted up to boast. Stay at home now; why should you meddle with trouble, that you should fall— you and Judah with you?”

Thou sayest, Lo, thou hast smitten Edom; and thy heart lifteth thee up to boast: abide now at home; why shouldest thou meddle to thy hurt, that thou shouldest fall, even thou, and Judah with thee?

You have said,‘ Look, I have defeated Edom,’ and you have become overconfident that you will get glory. Now stay at home. Why stir up such trouble so that you fall and Judah with you?”

Thou sayest, Lo, thou hast smitten the Edomites; and thine heart lifteth thee up to boast: abide now at home; why shouldest thou meddle to[ thine] hurt, that thou shouldest fall,[ even] thou, and Judah with thee?

You defeated Edom and it has gone to your head. Gloat over your success, but stay in your palace. Why bring calamity on yourself? Why bring down yourself and Judah along with you?”

You say to yourself that you have struck Edom; and your heart lifts you up to boast. Now stay at home. Why should you meddle with trouble, that you should fall, even you, and Judah with you?’”

But after Uzziah became powerful, his pride brought him down. He wasn’t faithful to the Lord his God. He entered the Lord’ s temple to burn incense on the altar for burning incense.

But Hezekiah’s heart was proud. He didn’t give thanks for the many kind things the Lord had done for him. So the Lord became angry with him. He also became angry with Judah and Jerusalem.

If you are proud, you will be destroyed. If you are proud, you will fall.

But God continues to give us more grace. That’s why Scripture says,“ God opposes those who are proud. But he gives grace to those who are humble.”( Proverbs 3:34)

But Necho sent messengers to him. They said,“ Josiah king of Judah, there isn’t any trouble between you and me. I’m not attacking you at this time. I’m at war with another country. God told me to hurry. He’s with me. So stop opposing him. If you don’t, he’ll destroy you.”

But his heart became very stubborn and proud. So he was removed from his royal throne. His glory was stripped away from him.He was driven away from people. He was given the mind of an animal. He lived with the wild donkeys. He ate grass just as an ox does. His body became wet with the dew of heaven. He stayed that way until he recognized that the Most High God rules over all kingdoms on earth. He puts anyone he wants to in charge of them.“ But you knew all that, Belshazzar. After all, you are Nebuchadnezzar’s son. In spite of that, you are still proud.You have taken your stand against the Lord of heaven. You had your servants bring cups from his temple to you. You and your nobles drank wine from them. So did your wives and concubines. You praised your gods. The statues of those gods are made out of silver, gold, bronze, iron, wood or stone. They can’t see or hear or understand anything. But you didn’t honor God. He holds in his hand your very life and everything you do.

People who always want more stir up conflict. But those who trust in the Lord will succeed.

Avoiding a fight brings honor to a person. But every foolish person is quick to argue.

“ The Babylonians are very proud. What they want is not good.“ But the person who is godly will live by his faithfulness.

So no one can boast to God.

Where there is arguing, there is pride. But those who take advice are wise.

“ Or suppose a king is about to go to war against another king. And suppose he has 10,000 men, while the other has 20,000 coming against him. Won’t he first sit down and think about whether he can win?

The Lord says,“ Do not let wise people brag about how wise they are. Do not let strong people boast about how strong they are. Do not let rich people brag about how rich they are.

In the same way, I’m speaking to you who are younger. Follow the lead of those who are older. All of you, put on a spirit free of pride toward one another. Put it on as if it were your clothes. Do this because Scripture says,“ God opposes those who are proud. But he gives grace to those who are humble.”( Proverbs 3:34)

Then your hearts will become proud. And you will forget the Lord your God. The Lord brought you out of Egypt. That’s the land where you were slaves.

Don’t be quick to get mixed up in someone else’s fight. That’s like grabbing a stray dog by its ears.

What foolish people say leads to arguing. They are just asking for a beating.
