Therefore Yahweh’s anger burned against Amaziah, and he sent to him a prophet, who said to him,“ Why have you sought after the gods of the people, which have not delivered their own people out of your hand?”

故耶和華怒亞瑪謝、遣先知告之曰、斯神未援其民於爾手、爾求之奚為、

耶和華震怒、遣先知告亞馬謝曰、爾戮異邦人、其上帝猶不能援手、爾反崇之曷故。

緣此、主向亞瑪謝震怒、遣先知告之曰、斯諸神不能救拜之之民脫於爾手、爾反崇之奚為、

The anger of the Lord burned against Amaziah, and he sent a prophet to him, who said,“ Why do you consult this people’s gods, which could not save their own people from your hand?”

The Lord was very angry with Amaziah. He sent a prophet to him. The prophet said,“ Why do you ask the gods of those people for advice? They couldn’t even save their own people from your power!”

Therefore the Lord was angry with Amaziah and sent to him a prophet, who said to him,“ Why have you sought the gods of a people who did not deliver their own people from your hand?”

This made the Lord very angry, and he sent a prophet to ask,“ Why do you turn to gods who could not even save their own people from you?”

So the LORD’s anger was against Amaziah, and he sent a prophet to him, who said,“ Why have you sought a people’s gods that could not rescue their own people from you?”

So the anger of the Lord burned against Amaziah, and He sent him a prophet who said to him,“ Why have you sought the gods of the people who have not saved their own people from your hand?”

Therefore the anger of the Lord was aroused against Amaziah, and He sent him a prophet who said to him,“ Why have you sought the gods of the people, which could not rescue their own people from your hand?”

Wherefore the anger of Jehovah was kindled against Amaziah, and he sent unto him a prophet, who said unto him, Why hast thou sought after the gods of the people, which have not delivered their own people out of thy hand?

So the Lord’s anger was against Amaziah, and He sent a prophet to him, who said,“ Why have you sought a people’s gods that could not deliver their own people from your hand?”

Wherefore the anger of the LORD was kindled against Amaziah, and he sent unto him a prophet, which said unto him, Why hast thou sought after the gods of the people, which could not deliver their own people out of thine hand?

The LORD was angry at Amaziah and sent a prophet to him, who said,“ Why are you following these gods that could not deliver their own people from your power?”

Amaziah took courage, and led his people out, and went to the Valley of Salt, and struck ten thousand of the children of Seir.The children of Judah carried away ten thousand alive, and brought them to the top of the rock, and threw them down from the top of the rock, so that they all were broken in pieces.

For all the gods of the peoples are idols, but Yahweh made the heavens.

Yahweh sent Nathan to David. He came to him, and said to him,“ There were two men in one city; the one rich, and the other poor.The rich man had very many flocks and herds,but the poor man had nothing, except one little ewe lamb, which he had bought and raised. It grew up together with him, and with his children. It ate of his own food, drank of his own cup, and lay in his bosom, and was like a daughter to him.A traveler came to the rich man, and he spared to take of his own flock and of his own herd, to prepare for the wayfaring man who had come to him, but took the poor man’s lamb, and prepared it for the man who had come to him.”David’s anger burned hot against the man, and he said to Nathan,“ As Yahweh lives, the man who has done this deserves to die!He must restore the lamb fourfold, because he did this thing, and because he had no pity!”

Bel bows down. Nebo stoops. Their idols are carried by animals, and on the livestock. The things that you carried around are heavy loads, a burden for the weary.They stoop and they bow down together. They could not deliver the burden, but they have gone into captivity.

Therefore concerning the eating of things sacrificed to idols, we know that no idol is anything in the world, and that there is no other God but one.

Everyone who makes a carved image is vain. The things that they delight in will not profit. Their own witnesses don’t see, nor know, that they may be disappointed.Who has fashioned a god, or molds an image that is profitable for nothing?

Their idols are silver and gold, the work of men’s hands.They have mouths, but they don’t speak. They have eyes, but they don’t see.They have ears, but they don’t hear. They have noses, but they don’t smell.They have hands, but they don’t feel. They have feet, but they don’t walk, neither do they speak through their throat.Those who make them will be like them; yes, everyone who trusts in them.

You shall make no covenant with the inhabitants of this land. You shall break down their altars.’ But you have not listened to my voice. Why have you done this?

Jehu the son of Hanani the seer went out to meet him, and said to king Jehoshaphat,“ Should you help the wicked, and love those who hate Yahweh? Because of this, wrath is on you from before Yahweh.

Who shouldn’t fear you, King of the nations? For it belongs to you. Because among all the wise men of the nations, and in all their royal estate, there is no one like you.

Then Eliezer the son of Dodavahu of Mareshah prophesied against Jehoshaphat, saying,“ Because you have joined yourself with Ahaziah, Yahweh has destroyed your works.” The ships were wrecked, so that they were not able to go to Tarshish.

Yahweh says,“ What unrighteousness have your fathers found in me, that they have gone far from me, and have walked after worthless vanity, and have become worthless?

The Spirit of God came on Zechariah the son of Jehoiada the priest; and he stood above the people, and said to them,“ God says,‘ Why do you disobey Yahweh’s commandments, so that you can’t prosper? Because you have forsaken Yahweh, he has also forsaken you.’”

At that time Hanani the seer came to Asa king of Judah, and said to him,“ Because you have relied on the king of Syria, and have not relied on Yahweh your God, therefore the army of the king of Syria has escaped out of your hand.Weren’t the Ethiopians and the Lubim a huge army, with chariots and exceedingly many horsemen? Yet, because you relied on Yahweh, he delivered them into your hand.For Yahweh’s eyes run back and forth throughout the whole earth, to show himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him. You have done foolishly in this; for from now on you will have wars.”

A man of God came to him, saying,“ O king, don’t let the army of Israel go with you, for Yahweh is not with Israel, with all the children of Ephraim.

But I say that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to demons, and not to God, and I don’t desire that you would have fellowship with demons.
