緣此、主向亞瑪謝震怒、遣先知告之曰、斯諸神不能救拜之之民脫於爾手、爾反崇之奚為、

The anger of the Lord burned against Amaziah, and he sent a prophet to him, who said,“ Why do you consult this people’s gods, which could not save their own people from your hand?”

The Lord was very angry with Amaziah. He sent a prophet to him. The prophet said,“ Why do you ask the gods of those people for advice? They couldn’t even save their own people from your power!”

Therefore the Lord was angry with Amaziah and sent to him a prophet, who said to him,“ Why have you sought the gods of a people who did not deliver their own people from your hand?”

This made the Lord very angry, and he sent a prophet to ask,“ Why do you turn to gods who could not even save their own people from you?”

So the anger of the Lord burned against Amaziah, and He sent him a prophet who said to him,“ Why have you sought the gods of the people who have not saved their own people from your hand?”

Therefore the anger of the Lord was aroused against Amaziah, and He sent him a prophet who said to him,“ Why have you sought the gods of the people, which could not rescue their own people from your hand?”

Wherefore the anger of Jehovah was kindled against Amaziah, and he sent unto him a prophet, who said unto him, Why hast thou sought after the gods of the people, which have not delivered their own people out of thy hand?

Therefore Yahweh’s anger burned against Amaziah, and he sent to him a prophet, who said to him,“ Why have you sought after the gods of the people, which have not delivered their own people out of your hand?”

Amaziah strengthened his position and led his people to the Salt Valley. He struck down ten thousand Seirites,and the Judahites captured ten thousand alive. They took them to the top of a cliff where they threw them off, and all of them were dashed to pieces.

For all the gods of the peoples are worthless idols, but the LORD made the heavens.

So the LORD sent Nathan to David. When he arrived, he said to him: There were two men in a certain city, one rich and the other poor.The rich man had very large flocks and herds,but the poor man had nothing except one small ewe lamb that he had bought. He raised her, and she grew up with him and with his children. From his meager food she would eat, from his cup she would drink, and in his arms she would sleep. She was like a daughter to him.Now a traveler came to the rich man, but the rich man could not bring himself to take one of his own sheep or cattle to prepare for the traveler who had come to him. Bel crouches; Nebo cowers. Idols depicting them are consigned to beasts and cattle. The images you carry are loaded, as a burden for the weary animal.The gods cower; they crouch together; they are not able to rescue the burden, but they themselves go into captivity.

About eating food sacrificed to idols, then, we know that“ an idol is nothing in the world,” and that“ there is no God but one.”

All who make idols are nothing, and what they treasure benefits no one. Their witnesses do not see or know anything, so they will be put to shame.Who makes a god or casts a metal image that benefits no one?

Their idols are silver and gold, made by human hands.They have mouths but cannot speak, eyes, but cannot see.They have ears but cannot hear, noses, but cannot smell.They have hands but cannot feel, feet, but cannot walk. They cannot make a sound with their throats.Those who make them are just like them, as are all who trust in them.

You are not to make a covenant with the inhabitants of this land. You are to tear down their altars. But you have not obeyed me. What have you done?

Then Jehu son of the seer Hanani went out to confront him and said to King Jehoshaphat,“ Do you help the wicked and love those who hate the LORD? Because of this, the LORD’s wrath is on you.

The Spirit of God enveloped Zechariah son of Jehoiada the priest. He stood above the people and said to them,“ This is what God says,‘ Why are you transgressing the LORD’s commands so that you do not prosper? Because you have abandoned the LORD, he has abandoned you.’”

At that time, the seer Hanani came to King Asa of Judah and said to him,“ Because you depended on the king of Aram and have not depended on the LORD your God, the army of the king of Aram has escaped from you.Were not the Cushites and Libyans a vast army with many chariots and horsemen? When you depended on the LORD, he handed them over to you.For the eyes of the LORD roam throughout the earth to show himself strong for those who are wholeheartedly devoted to him. You have been foolish in this matter. Therefore, you will have wars from now on.”

However, a man of God came to him and said,“ King, do not let Israel’s army go with you, for the LORD is not with Israel— all the Ephraimites.

No, but I do say that what they sacrifice, they sacrifice to demons and not to God. I do not want you to be participants with demons!
