Although the Aramean army had come with only a few men, the Lord delivered into their hands a much larger army. Because Judah had forsaken the Lord, the God of their ancestors, judgment was executed on Joash.

“耶和华必使你在仇敌面前溃败。你从一条路去攻击他们，必从七条路逃跑。地上万国必因你而惊骇。

一人叱喝，令千人逃跑，五人叱喝，你们都逃跑；以致剩下的如山顶的旗杆，如山冈上的大旗。

耶户向亚哈家施行惩罚的时候，遇见犹大的众领袖和亚哈谢的侄子们正服事亚哈谢，就把他们都杀了。

我要使刀剑临到你们，报复你们的背约。你们若被赶入城中，我要降瘟疫在你们中间，把你们交在仇敌手中。

虽然无人追赶，他们却要彼此绊倒，像逃避刀剑一样。你们在仇敌面前必站立不住。

你们五个人要追赶一百人，一百人要追赶一万人；仇敌必在你们面前倒在刀下。

你们即使击败与你们争战的迦勒底全军，他们当中剩下受伤的人也必各自从帐棚里起来，用火焚烧这城。’”

那时，神的灵感动耶何耶大的儿子撒迦利亚祭司，他就站在上面，对百姓说：“神如此说：‘你们为何干犯耶和华的诫命，以致不得亨通呢？因为你们离弃耶和华，所以他也离弃你们。’”

若非他们的磐石卖了他们，若非耶和华交出他们，一人岂能追赶千人，二人焉能使万人逃跑呢？

祸哉！亚述，我怒气的棍！他们手中的杖是我的恼恨。我要差遣他攻击亵渎的国，吩咐他对付我所恼怒的民，抢走掳物，夺取掠物，将他们践踏，如同街上的泥土一般。

所以你必在饥饿、干渴、赤身、缺乏中事奉仇敌，那是耶和华派来攻击你的。他必把铁轭加在你的颈项上，直到把你除灭。

古实人和路比人的军队不是非常强大吗？他们的战车骑兵不是极多吗？只因你仰赖耶和华，他就将他们交在你手里。因为耶和华的眼目遍察全地，要坚固向他存纯正之心的人。你在这事上行得愚昧；因此，以后你必有战争。”

他们从远方来，从天边来，耶和华和他恼恨的兵器要毁灭全地。

耶和华—我的神，我的圣者啊，你不是从亘古就有吗？我们必不致死。耶和华啊，你派他为要行审判；磐石啊，你立他为要惩治人。

看哪，他们这样回报我们，要来驱逐我们离开你赐给我们为业之地。我们的神啊，你不惩罚他们吗？因为我们无力抵挡这来攻击我们的大军。我们不知道该怎么做，我们的眼目单仰望你。”
