Although the Aramean army had come with only a few men, the Lord delivered into their hands a much larger army. Because Judah had forsaken the Lord, the God of their ancestors, judgment was executed on Joash.

“祂要使你们被敌人击败、溃不成军、四散逃命，下场令天下万国惊惧。

耶户讨伐亚哈家的时候，遇见犹大众首领和亚哈谢的众侄儿，他们都是服侍亚哈谢的，耶户就把他们全部杀掉。

因为你们毁约，我要用战祸报应你们。你们躲进各城的时候，我要在你们中间降下瘟疫，使你们落在敌人手里。

即使无人追赶，他们也将仓皇逃命，互相绊倒，如同躲避刀剑一样。你们必无力抵挡敌人。

你们五人要追赶一百人，一百人要追赶一万人，他们必死在你们刀下。

即使你们能打败迦勒底全军，他们营中受伤的残兵也必起来烧毁这城。’”

上帝的灵感动了耶何耶大祭司的儿子撒迦利亚，他便站在高处对民众说：“耶和华上帝这样说，‘你们为什么违反耶和华的诫命，以致不得亨通呢？既然你们背弃我，我也必离弃你们。’”

若不是他们的磐石卖掉他们，若不是耶和华抛弃他们，一人怎能赶散他们千人？二人怎能击溃他们万人？

耶和华说：“亚述王有祸了！他是我的愤怒之棍，他手中拿着我发烈怒的杖。我要差遣他去攻打一个不虔敬的国家，一个惹我发怒的民族，去抢夺、掳掠他们的财物，像践踏街上的泥土一样践踏他们。

你们必失去所有，饥饿干渴、赤身裸体地侍奉耶和华派来攻击你们的敌人。祂要把铁轭加在你们的颈上，直到消灭你们。

古实人与路比人不是一支强大的军队吗？他们的战车骑兵不是极多吗？然而，因为你倚靠耶和华，耶和华就把他们交在你手中。耶和华的眼目遍察天下，彰显大能来扶助那些全心归向祂的人。你做了愚蠢的事！从此以后，你必遭遇战祸。”

他们从地极，从天边而来。那是耶和华及倾倒祂烈怒的兵器，要来毁灭大地。

耶和华，我的上帝，我的圣者啊，你从亘古就存在，你永不消逝。耶和华啊，你派迦勒底人来审判；磐石啊，你立他们作施罚者。

但现在这些人要报复我们，把我们从你赐给我们作产业的地方赶走。我们的上帝啊，难道你不惩罚他们吗？面对前来攻击的大军，我们无力抵挡，不知道该怎么办，我们只有仰望你。”
