Although the Lord sent prophets to the people to bring them back to him, and though they testified against them, they would not listen.

主屢遣其僕諸先知以警爾、惟爾不聽、不傾耳以聽、彼先知曰、爾當各離惡道、各去惡行、則可居於主所賜爾及爾列祖之地、永世靡暨、

我民歟、宜聽我言、我國歟、宜傾耳向我、蓋律法必自我而出、我必堅定我法度為萬邦之光、

爾曹中誰肯傾耳聽此、以後誰肯敬聽、

因斯民之心冥頑、自聾其耳、自閉其目、免其目視、耳聽、心悟悔改、而我醫之焉、惟爾目有福、因其見也、爾耳有福、因其聞也、

自爾列祖出伊及之時、迄於今日、我屢屢原文作每日清晨遣我僕眾先知、以警教爾、竟不領命、不傾耳以聽、乃強厥項、行惡甚於其列祖、

惟主為我儕之天主、我儕為主所牧養之民、為主手下之羊、惟願爾曹今日聽從主之言、主曰、爾曹勿剛愎乃心、如昔在米利巴、在曠野之瑪撒時、

亞伯拉罕曰、不聽摩西及先知、縱有由死復活者、彼亦不信、

主藉諸先知與諸先見、警戒以色列人及猶大人曰、當棄惡行、守我誡命法度、循我所命爾列祖、又藉我僕眾先知授爾之律法、斯民不聽、強項不馴、不信主其天主、與其列祖無異、違棄主之律例、及主與其列祖所立之約、並主警戒之言、從虛無之神、行虛妄之事、主命之勿效四周異邦人所為、彼反從之、

乃彼不順、叛逆主、背棄主之律法、殺勸其歸主之眾先知、行大褻瀆之事、

凡有耳能聽者、當聽焉、○

爾其傾耳就我而聽、則可得生、則可得生或作爾心則可蘇醒我與爾立永約、以所許大衛之恆恩恆恩或作實惠賜爾、

禍哉爾曹、因爾祖所殺之先知、爾建其墓、如是爾祖所為、爾自證之、且喜之、蓋爾祖殺先知、爾則建其墓、是以天主之智曾言曰、我將遣先知及使徒就彼、有為其所殺、有為其所窘逐、致創世以來、流先知之血、悉將討於此代、即自亞伯之血、至被殺於祭臺及殿間撒迦利亞之血、我誠告爾、此血皆必討於此代、

爾曹傾聽我言、細聽我訓、

主其列祖之天主因憐其民、惜其居所、日日日日原文作每晨遣使者訓誨之、彼訕笑天主之使者、藐視其言、侮辱侮辱或作譏諷其先知、故主震怒其民、不復援之、

乃設此喻語眾曰、有人植葡萄園、租與園夫、遂往遠地久居、及期、遣一僕就園夫、令其輸園中當納之果、園夫撲之、使之徒返、復遣他僕、園夫亦撲之、且辱之、使之徒返、三次遣僕、園夫竟傷而逐之、園主曰、我將如之何、莫若遣我愛子、或彼見而敬之、園夫見其子、相議曰、此乃嗣子、盍來殺之、業則歸我矣、遂逐於園外而殺之、園主將何以處之、
