Although the Lord sent prophets to the people to bring them back to him, and though they testified against them, they would not listen.

因為這子民的心麻木了，他們充耳不聞，眼睛閉著；免得他們眼睛看見，耳朵聽見，心裡領悟，回轉過來，我就使他們痊癒。』「但你們的眼睛是蒙福的，因為看見了；你們的耳朵是蒙福的，因為聽見了。

因為他是我們的神，我們是他牧場的子民，是他手下的羊群。但願你們今天聽他的聲音：「你們不可硬著心，像在米利巴，在曠野中瑪撒的日子一樣；

「可是亞伯拉罕對他說：『如果他們不聽從摩西和先知們，就算有人從死人中復活，他們也不會被說服的。』

凡是有耳的，就應當聽！」

你們要側耳聽，來到我這裡；你們要聽，就得以存活。我必與你們立永遠的約，就是給大衛的信實慈愛的約。

「你們有禍了！因為你們建造先知的墳墓，而你們的祖先是殺害他們的。因此對你們祖先的行為，你們是見證人，你們也贊同，因為他們殺害了先知們，你們就建造先知的墳墓。為此，神的智慧也曾說：『我將要差派先知和使徒到他們那裡去。有些他們要殺害，有些他們要逼迫。』這是為要向這世代追討那從創世以來所流的眾先知的血，就是從亞伯的血起，直到在祭壇和聖所之間被殺的撒迦利亞的血為止。「是的，我告訴你們：這世代將要為此被追討。

你們要側耳，聽我的聲音；要留心，聽我的言語！

接著，耶穌開始對民眾講這個比喻：「有一個人栽種了一個葡萄園，把它租給一些農夫，然後就出外旅行，去了許久。到了收穫的季節，他就派了一個奴僕到那些農夫那裡去，好讓他們從葡萄園的果子中把當納的交給他。但那些農夫打了他，叫他空手回去。園主又派另一個奴僕去，可是他們把那個人也打了，並且侮辱他，叫他空手回去。於是，他又派了第三個人去，他們又把這個人打傷，趕了出去。「葡萄園的主人就說：『我該做什麼呢？我要派遣我的愛子，或許他們會尊重他。』「可是那些農夫看見他，就彼此討論說：『這是繼承人。我們把他殺了，那繼業就成為我們的了。』於是他們把他扔出葡萄園外，殺了。「那麼，葡萄園的主人會怎麼對待他們呢？
