必須處死那些先知或解夢的人，因為他們慫恿你們背叛你們的上帝耶和華、偏離祂吩咐你們當走的道路。你們的上帝耶和華曾帶你們離開埃及，救你們脫離奴役。你們必須清除你們當中的邪惡。「如果你們的兄弟、兒女、愛妻或摯友引誘你們去拜你們和你們祖先都不認識的神明，引誘你們去拜你們周圍各族的神明，或在附近或遠在天邊，你們不可遷就、聽從他們，不可憐惜他們，不可放過或包庇他們。必須處死他們。你們要首先下手，然後眾人一起打死他們。

耶戶獻完燔祭出來，便命令衛兵和將領說：「進去殺死他們，不要放走一人。」衛兵和將領進廟揮刀殺了他們，把屍首拋出去後，走入廟的內殿，將巴力神柱搬出去燒了。他們摧毀了巴力的神柱和廟，把廟當作廁所，至今未變。這樣，耶戶從以色列掃除了巴力。

「到那天，我必剷除地上偶像的名號，使它們被人遺忘；我必除去地上的假先知和污穢的靈。這是萬軍之耶和華說的。若有人再說預言，他的親生父母必對他說，『你不得活命，因為你奉耶和華的名說謊。』他說預言的時候，他的親生父母必把他刺死。
