必须处死那些先知或解梦的人，因为他们怂恿你们背叛你们的上帝耶和华、偏离祂吩咐你们当走的道路。你们的上帝耶和华曾带你们离开埃及，救你们脱离奴役。你们必须清除你们当中的邪恶。“如果你们的兄弟、儿女、爱妻或挚友引诱你们去拜你们和你们祖先都不认识的神明，引诱你们去拜你们周围各族的神明，或在附近或远在天边，你们不可迁就、听从他们，不可怜惜他们，不可放过或包庇他们。必须处死他们。你们要首先下手，然后众人一起打死他们。

耶户献完燔祭出来，便命令卫兵和将领说：“进去杀死他们，不要放走一人。”卫兵和将领进庙挥刀杀了他们，把尸首抛出去后，走入庙的内殿，将巴力神柱搬出去烧了。他们摧毁了巴力的神柱和庙，把庙当作厕所，至今未变。这样，耶户从以色列扫除了巴力。

“到那天，我必铲除地上偶像的名号，使它们被人遗忘；我必除去地上的假先知和污秽的灵。这是万军之耶和华说的。若有人再说预言，他的亲生父母必对他说，‘你不得活命，因为你奉耶和华的名说谎。’他说预言的时候，他的亲生父母必把他刺死。

他拆除丘坛，砸碎神柱，砍倒亚舍拉神像，打碎摩西造的铜蛇，因为当时以色列人仍向铜蛇烧香，称之为尼忽士旦。

你们要拆毁他们的祭坛，打碎他们的神柱，焚烧他们的亚舍拉神像，砍倒他们的偶像，使它们的名字从那里消失。
