Nevertheless, because of the covenant the Lord had made with David, the Lord was not willing to destroy the house of David. He had promised to maintain a lamp for him and his descendants forever.

But the Lord didn’t want to destroy the royal family of David. That’s because the Lord had made a covenant with him. The Lord had promised to keep the lamp of David’s kingdom burning brightly. The Lord had promised that for David and his children after him forever.

Yet the Lord was not willing to destroy the house of David, because of the covenant that he had made with David, and since he had promised to give a lamp to him and to his sons forever.

But the Lord did not want to destroy David’s dynasty, for he had made a covenant with David and promised that his descendants would continue to rule, shining like a lamp forever.

but for the sake of the covenant the LORD had made with David, he was unwilling to destroy the house of David since the LORD had promised to give a lamp to David and to his sons forever.

If he commits iniquity, I will chasten him with the rod of men, and with the stripes of the children of men;but my loving kindness will not depart from him, as I took it from Saul, whom I put away before you.Your house and your kingdom will be made sure forever before you. Your throne will be established forever.”’”Nathan spoke to David all these words, and according to all this vision.

However I will not tear away all the kingdom; but I will give one tribe to your son, for David my servant’s sake, and for Jerusalem’s sake which I have chosen.”

and has raised up a horn of salvation for us in the house of his servant David

to shine on those who sit in darkness and the shadow of death; to guide our feet into the way of peace.”

“ Let’s go up against Judah, and tear it apart, and let’s divide it among ourselves, and set up a king within it, even the son of Tabeel.”This is what the Lord Yahweh says:“ It shall not stand, neither shall it happen.”

I will keep my loving kindness for him forever more. My covenant will stand firm with him.I will also make his offspring endure forever, and his throne as the days of heaven.If his children forsake my law, and don’t walk in my ordinances;if they break my statutes, and don’t keep my commandments;then I will punish their sin with the rod, and their iniquity with stripes.But I will not completely take my loving kindness from him, nor allow my faithfulness to fail.I will not break my covenant, nor alter what my lips have uttered.

I will make the horn of David to bud there. I have ordained a lamp for my anointed.I will clothe his enemies with shame, but on himself, his crown will shine.”

You have renounced the covenant of your servant. You have defiled his crown in the dust.

Isn’t my house so with God? Yet he has made with me an everlasting covenant, ordered in all things, and sure, for it is all my salvation, and all my desire, although he doesn’t make it grow.

However Yahweh would not destroy Judah, for David his servant’s sake, as he promised him to give to him a lamp for his children always.

But Jehoshabeath, the king’s daughter, took Joash the son of Ahaziah, and stealthily rescued him from among the king’s sons who were slain, and put him and his nurse in the bedroom. So Jehoshabeath, the daughter of king Jehoram, the wife of Jehoiada the priest( for she was the sister of Ahaziah), hid him from Athaliah, so that she didn’t kill him.
