Nevertheless, because of the covenant the Lord had made with David, the Lord was not willing to destroy the house of David. He had promised to maintain a lamp for him and his descendants forever.

But the Lord didn’t want to destroy the royal family of David. That’s because the Lord had made a covenant with him. The Lord had promised to keep the lamp of David’s kingdom burning brightly. The Lord had promised that for David and his children after him forever.

Yet the Lord was not willing to destroy the house of David, because of the covenant that he had made with David, and since he had promised to give a lamp to him and to his sons forever.

But the Lord did not want to destroy David’s dynasty, for he had made a covenant with David and promised that his descendants would continue to rule, shining like a lamp forever.

but for the sake of the covenant the LORD had made with David, he was unwilling to destroy the house of David since the LORD had promised to give a lamp to David and to his sons forever.

只是我不撕裂全國，卻要因我僕人大衛和我所選擇的耶路撒冷，保留一個支派給你的兒子。」

在他僕人大衛家中，為我們興起了拯救的角，

要照亮坐在黑暗中死蔭裏的人，把我們的腳引到和平的路上。』」

我們要上去攻擊猶大，擾亂它，攻破它來歸我們，在其中立他比勒的兒子為王。主耶和華如此說：這事必站立不住，也不得成就。

我要為他存留我的慈愛，直到永遠，我與他所立的約必堅定不移。我也要使他的後裔存到永遠，使他的寶座如天之久。「倘若他的子孫離棄我的律法，不照我的典章行，背棄我的律例，不遵守我的誡命，我就要用杖責罰他們的過犯，用鞭責罰他們的罪孽。只是我不將我的慈愛全然收回，也不叫我的信實廢除。我必不毀損我的約，也不改變我口中所出的話。

在那裏我要使大衛的角茁壯，為我的受膏者預備明燈。我要使他的仇敵披上羞恥；但他的冠冕要在他頭上發光。」

「耶和華如此說：你們若能廢棄我所立白日黑夜的約，使白日黑夜不按時輪轉，就能廢棄我與我僕人大衛所立的約，使他沒有後裔在他的寶座上作王，並能廢棄我與事奉我的利未家的祭司所立的約。正如天上的萬象不能數算，海邊的塵沙不能斗量，我必照樣使我僕人大衛的後裔和事奉我的利未人多起來。」耶和華的話臨到耶利米，說：「你沒有留意這百姓所說的話嗎？他們說：『耶和華所揀選的二族，他已經棄絕了。』他們這樣藐視我的百姓，不把他們當作國來看待。耶和華如此說：除非我沒有立白日黑夜之約，也未曾安排天和地的定例，否則我不會棄絕雅各的後裔和我僕人大衛的後裔，使大衛的後裔不再治理亞伯拉罕、以撒、雅各的後裔。我必使他們被擄的人歸回，也必憐憫他們。」

你厭惡與你僕人所立的約，將他的冠冕踐踏於地。

我的家在上帝面前不是如此嗎？上帝與我立永遠的約，這約既全備又穩妥。我的一切救恩和我一切所想望的，他豈不成全嗎？

但洗魯雅的兒子亞比篩幫助大衛攻擊非利士人，殺死了他。當日，大衛的人向大衛起誓說：「你不可再與我們一同出戰，免得以色列的燈熄滅了。」

耶和華卻因他僕人大衛的緣故，不肯滅絕猶大，要照他所應許的，永遠賜燈光給大衛和他的子孫。

耶和華憑信實向大衛起了誓，絕不改變：「我要立你身所生的坐在你的寶座上。

但王的女兒約示巴將亞哈謝的兒子約阿施從那被殺的王子中偷出來，把他和他的奶媽藏在臥房裏。約示巴是約蘭王的女兒，亞哈謝的妹妹，祭司耶何耶大的妻子。她藏了約阿施，躲避亞她利雅，免受殺害。
