Yet the Lord was not willing to destroy the house of David because of the covenant which He had made with David, and because He had promised to give a lamp to him and his sons forever.

Nevertheless, because of the covenant the Lord had made with David, the Lord was not willing to destroy the house of David. He had promised to maintain a lamp for him and his descendants forever.

But the Lord didn’t want to destroy the royal family of David. That’s because the Lord had made a covenant with him. The Lord had promised to keep the lamp of David’s kingdom burning brightly. The Lord had promised that for David and his children after him forever.

Yet the Lord was not willing to destroy the house of David, because of the covenant that he had made with David, and since he had promised to give a lamp to him and to his sons forever.

But the Lord did not want to destroy David’s dynasty, for he had made a covenant with David and promised that his descendants would continue to rule, shining like a lamp forever.

but for the sake of the covenant the LORD had made with David, he was unwilling to destroy the house of David since the LORD had promised to give a lamp to David and to his sons forever.

But to his son I will give one tribe, so that My servant David may always have a lamp before Me in Jerusalem, the city where I have chosen for Myself to put My name.

When your days are finished and you lie down with your fathers, I will raise up your descendant after you, who will come from you, and I will establish his kingdom.He shall build a house for My name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever.I will be a father to him and he will be a son to Me; when he does wrong, I will discipline him with a rod of men and with strokes of sons of mankind,but My favor shall not depart from him, as I took it away from Saul, whom I removed from you.Your house and your kingdom shall endure before Me forever; your throne shall be established forever.” ’ ”In accordance with all these words and all of this vision, so Nathan spoke to David.

Yet I will not tear away all the kingdom, but I will give one tribe to your son for the sake of My servant David, and for the sake of Jerusalem, which I have chosen.”

And has raised up a horn of salvation for us In the house of His servant David—

To shine on those who sit in darkness and the shadow of death, To guide our feet into the way of peace.”

“ Let’s go up against Judah and terrorize it, and take it for ourselves by assault and set up the son of Tabeel as king in the midst of it,”this is what the Lord God says:“ It shall not stand nor shall it come to pass.

I will maintain My favor for him forever, And My covenant shall be confirmed to him.So I will establish his descendants forever, And his throne as the days of heaven.“ If his sons abandon My Law And do not walk in My judgments,If they violate My statutes And do not keep My commandments,Then I will punish their wrongdoing with the rod, And their guilt with afflictions.But I will not withhold My favor from him, Nor deal falsely in My faithfulness.I will not violate My covenant, Nor will I alter the utterance of My lips.

I will make the horn of David spring forth there; I have prepared a lamp for My anointed.I will clothe his enemies with shame, But upon himself his crown will gleam.”

“ This is what the Lord says:‘ If you can break My covenant for the day and My covenant for the night, so that day and night do not occur at their proper time,then My covenant with David My servant may also be broken, so that he will not have a son to reign on his throne, and with the Levitical priests, My ministers.As the heavenly lights cannot be counted, and the sand of the sea cannot be measured, so I will multiply the descendants of My servant David and the Levites who serve Me.’ ”And the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah, saying,“ Have you not observed what these people have asserted, saying,‘ The two families which the Lord chose, He has rejected them’? So they despise My people as no longer being a nation in their sight.This is what the Lord says:‘ If My covenant for day and night does not continue, and I have not established the fixed patterns of heaven and earth,then I would reject the descendants of Jacob and David My servant, so as not to take from his descendants rulers over the descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. But I will restore their fortunes and have mercy on them.’ ”

You have repudiated the covenant of Your servant; You have profaned his crown in the dust.

Is my house not indeed so with God? For He has made an everlasting covenant with me, Properly ordered in all things, and secured; For will He not indeed make All my salvation and all my delight grow?

But Abishai the son of Zeruiah helped him, and struck the Philistine and killed him. Then David’s men swore to him, saying,“ You shall not go out again with us to battle, so that you do not extinguish the lamp of Israel.”

However, the Lord did not want to destroy Judah, for the sake of David His servant, since He had promised him to give him a lamp through his sons always.

The Lord has sworn to David A truth from which He will not turn back:“ I will set upon your throne one from the fruit of your body.

But Jehoshabeath the king’s daughter took Joash the son of Ahaziah, and stole him from among the king’s sons who were being put to death, and placed him and his nurse in the bedroom. So Jehoshabeath, the daughter of King Jehoram, the wife of Jehoiada the priest( for she was the sister of Ahaziah), hid him from Athaliah so that she would not put him to death.
