Nevertheless, because of the covenant the Lord had made with David, the Lord was not willing to destroy the house of David. He had promised to maintain a lamp for him and his descendants forever.

But the Lord didn’t want to destroy the royal family of David. That’s because the Lord had made a covenant with him. The Lord had promised to keep the lamp of David’s kingdom burning brightly. The Lord had promised that for David and his children after him forever.

Yet the Lord was not willing to destroy the house of David, because of the covenant that he had made with David, and since he had promised to give a lamp to him and to his sons forever.

But the Lord did not want to destroy David’s dynasty, for he had made a covenant with David and promised that his descendants would continue to rule, shining like a lamp forever.

你壽終正寢、與祖先同眠之後，我必立你的後裔接替你的王位，使他江山穩固。他必為我的名建造聖殿，我必使他的王位堅立，直到永遠。我要做他的父親，他要做我的兒子。如果他犯了罪，我必用人的杖、世人的鞭子來懲治他，但我的慈愛卻不會像離開從你面前被廢的掃羅那樣離開他。你的家和你的國必在我面前永遠堅立，你的王位必永遠穩固。』」拿單就把所聽到的啟示全部告訴大衛。

但我不會全部奪走，為了我僕人大衛和我揀選的耶路撒冷，我會留下一個支派給你兒子。」

在祂僕人大衛的家族中為我們興起了一位大能的拯救者，

照亮那些生活在黑暗中和死亡陰影下的人，帶領我們走平安的道路。」

企圖攻打並瓜分猶大，改立他比勒的兒子為王。但主耶和華說，『這陰謀必無法得逞。

我要永遠用慈愛待他，我與他立的約永不更改。我要使他的後裔永無窮盡，讓他的王位與天同存。如果他的後代背棄我的律法，不遵行我的典章，觸犯我的律例，不守我的誡命，我就會因他們的罪用杖懲罰他們，用鞭子責打他們。但我不會收回我的慈愛，也不會背棄我的信實。我必不毀約，也不食言。

我必使大衛的後裔在那裡做王，我必為我所膏立的預備明燈。我必使他的仇敵滿面羞愧，但他頭上的王冠必光芒四射。」

「這是耶和華說的，『除非你們能廢除我與白晝黑夜所立的約，叫白晝黑夜不再按時更替，才能廢除我與我僕人大衛所立的約，使他的王位後繼無人，也才能廢除我與事奉我的利未祭司所立的約。我要使我僕人大衛的後裔和事奉我的利未人像天上的星和海邊的沙一樣不可勝數。』」耶和華對耶利米說：「你聽見了嗎？人們說，『耶和華已經棄絕了祂所揀選的以色列和猶大兩個國家。』他們藐視我的子民，視他們為亡國之民。然而，耶和華說，『正如我決不廢棄我所定的晝夜交替和天地運行之律，我也決不棄絕雅各的後裔，不棄絕我僕人大衛的後裔。我必讓大衛的後裔做王統治亞伯拉罕、以撒和雅各的子孫，因為我必使被擄的人回到故土，恩待他們。』」

你廢棄與他所立的約，把他的冠冕扔在塵土中。

我的家在上帝面前不正是如此嗎？上帝與我立下永遠的約，這約穩妥可靠。祂必拯救我，成全我的願望。

洗魯雅的兒子亞比篩趕來救駕，殺死了非利士巨人。這事以後，大衛的部下向他起誓說：「你絕不可再跟我們一起出戰，免得以色列的燈熄滅。」

但耶和華因祂僕人大衛的緣故而不願毀滅猶大，因為祂曾應許讓大衛的子孫永遠做王。

耶和華曾向大衛起了永不廢棄的誓說：「我必使你的後代繼承你的王位。

但約蘭王的女兒、亞哈謝的妹妹約示芭把亞哈謝的兒子約阿施從將要被殺的王子中偷出來，將他和他的乳母藏在一間臥室裡躲避亞她利雅的殺害。約示芭是耶何耶大祭司的妻子。
