因為以色列王亞哈斯在猶大放肆，大大干犯耶和華，所以耶和華使猶大卑微。

他向那攻擊他的大馬士革的神明獻祭，說：「因為亞蘭王的神明幫助他們，我也要向這些神明獻祭，好讓它們幫助我。」但那些神明卻使他和全以色列敗亡。

眾人把他與列王同葬在大衛城，因為他在以色列中為上帝和他的殿做了美善的事。

約蘭起來治理他父親的國，奮勇自強，用刀殺了他所有的兄弟和以色列的幾個領袖。
