Jehoram received a letter from Elijah the prophet, which said:“ This is what the Lord, the God of your father David, says:‘ You have not followed the ways of your father Jehoshaphat or of Asa king of Judah.

Jehoram received a letter from Elijah the prophet. In it, Elijah said,“ The Lord is the God of your father David. The Lord says,‘ You have not followed the ways of your own father Jehoshaphat or of Asa, the king of Judah.

And a letter came to him from Elijah the prophet, saying,“ Thus says the Lord, the God of David your father,‘ Because you have not walked in the ways of Jehoshaphat your father, or in the ways of Asa king of Judah,

Then Elijah the prophet wrote Jehoram this letter:“ This is what the Lord, the God of your ancestor David, says: You have not followed the good example of your father, Jehoshaphat, or your grandfather King Asa of Judah.

Then a letter came to Jehoram from the prophet Elijah, saying: This is what the LORD, the God of your ancestor David says:“ Because you have not walked in the ways of your father Jehoshaphat or in the ways of King Asa of Judah

Then a letter came to him from Elijah the prophet, saying,“ This is what the Lord, the God of your father David says:‘ Because you have not walked in the ways of your father Jehoshaphat and the ways of Asa king of Judah,

And a letter came to him from Elijah the prophet, saying, Thus says the Lord God of your father David: Because you have not walked in the ways of Jehoshaphat your father, or in the ways of Asa king of Judah,

And there came a writing to him from Elijah the prophet, saying, Thus saith Jehovah, the God of David thy father, Because thou hast not walked in the ways of Jehoshaphat thy father, nor in the ways of Asa king of Judah,

Then a letter came to Jehoram from Elijah the prophet, saying: This is what Yahweh, the God of your ancestor David says:“ Because you have not walked in the ways of your father Jehoshaphat or in the ways of Asa king of Judah

And there came a writing to him from Elijah the prophet, saying, Thus saith the LORD God of David thy father, Because thou hast not walked in the ways of Jehoshaphat thy father, nor in the ways of Asa king of Judah,

Jehoram received this letter from Elijah the prophet:“ This is what the LORD God of your ancestor David says:‘ You have not followed in the footsteps of your father Jehoshaphat and of King Asa of Judah,

A letter came to him from Elijah the prophet, saying,“ Yahweh, the God of David your father, says,‘ Because you have not walked in the ways of Jehoshaphat your father, nor in the ways of Asa king of Judah,

耶和華和約沙法同在，因為他遵行了他祖先大衛最初所行的道路，沒有尋求巴力。只尋求他父親的神，遵行神的誡命，沒有隨從以色列人的行為。

亞撒行耶和華他的神看為善為正的事。（本節在《馬索拉文本》為14:1）他除掉外族人的祭壇和邱壇，打斷神柱，砍下亞舍拉，吩咐猶大人尋求耶和華他們列祖的神，遵行他的律法和誡命。他又在猶大各城中，除掉邱壇和香壇。那時全國在他的統治下享受太平。

耶和華將要用旋風接以利亞往天上去的時候，以利亞和以利沙一起離開吉甲。

亞撒行耶和華看為正的事，像他祖大衛一樣。

他們邊走邊談的時候，忽然，有火車火馬把他們二人分開，以利亞就在旋風中被接往天上去了。

“所寫的文字是：‘彌尼，彌尼，提客勒，烏法珥新。’這文字的意思是這樣：‘彌尼’就是神已數算了你國度的年日，使國終止；‘提客勒’就是你被稱在天平上，顯出你的缺欠；‘毘勒斯’（“毘勒斯”即“烏法珥新”的單數式）就是你的國要分裂，歸給瑪代人和波斯人。”於是伯沙撒下令，人就把紫袍給但以理穿上，把金鍊戴在他的頸上，又宣告他在國中掌權，位列第三。

每逢猶底宣讀完三四段，王就用書記的小刀把書割破，丟進盆中的火裡，直到全卷都在盆中的火裡燒盡了。

約沙法遵行他父親亞撒所行的一切，總不偏離，行耶和華看為正的事。只是邱壇還沒有廢去，人民仍在邱壇上獻祭燒香（“只是邱壇⋯⋯獻祭燒香。”《馬索拉文本》為22:44）。

當時，忽然有人手的指頭出現，在王宮裡燈臺對面的粉牆上寫字；王看見了那隻正在寫字的手掌，

“你取一卷書卷來，在上面寫下我在約西亞作王的時候開始，直到今日，對你所說論到以色列和猶大，以及列國的一切話。

“你再取一書卷來，把猶大王約雅敬燒掉的前一書卷裡原來的一切話，都寫在書卷上面。論到猶大王約雅敬你要說：‘耶和華這樣說：你燒了那書卷，說：你為甚麼在上面寫著說：巴比倫王一定來，毀滅這地，使地上的人畜都滅絕呢？因此，耶和華論到猶大王約雅敬這樣說：他的後代必沒有人坐在大衛的王位上；他的屍體必拋棄在外，日間受炎熱，夜間受寒霜。我必懲罰他和他的後裔，以及他臣僕的罪孽；我必使我對他們預告過的一切災禍，臨到他們和耶路撒冷的居民，以及猶大人的身上；他們卻不聽從。’”於是耶利米取了另一卷書卷，交給尼利亞的兒子文士巴錄；巴錄就從耶利米的口中，把猶大王約雅敬在火中燒掉的那書上的一切話，都寫在書卷上，還加上很多類似的話。

我觀看，看見一隻手向我伸過來，手中有一卷書卷。他把書卷在我面前展開，書卷內外都寫上字，寫的是哀歌、悲歎和災禍。
