然後彼此說：『我們所作的很不好；今天是有好消息的日子，我們竟不作聲；若等到早上辰光，我們就要受罪罰了；來吧；我們現在就去向王家裏報信吧！』他們便去叫守城門的，告訴他們說：『我們到了亞蘭人的營，竟見那裏一個人也沒有，沒有人的聲音，只有馬拴着，驢拴着，帳棚都照舊。』守城門的叫了人進裏面向王家裏報信。王夜間起來，對臣僕說：『亞蘭人向我們所作的是甚麼意思、我告訴你們。他們知道我們在鬧饑荒，所以他們就離開營盤、在野外埋伏着，說：「以色列人一出城，我們便可以活活捉住他們，我們就得以進城了。」』臣僕中、有一個人回答王說：『從剩下的馬、在城裏所剩下的之中、叫人去牽五匹來吧。反正所有在城裏剩下來的以色列大眾也必像所有死去的以色列大眾早晚都死去啊。我們打發人去看看吧。』有人取了兩輛車和馬來，王就打發人去追尋亞蘭的軍兵，說：『你們去看看。』使者追尋到約但河，看見路上滿是亞蘭人慌慌張張時所丟棄的衣服和器物，就回來，向王報告。眾民就出去，掠劫亞蘭人的營。於是一細亞細麵就賣了一舍客勒銀子，二細亞大麥也賣了一舍客勒銀子，正如永恆主所說的話。

無論是小是大、是兒是女、無論是被擄掠的、是敵人拿走的、大衛全都奪回，沒有失落一個。大衛也拿到所有的羊和牛，人把這些趕在原有的牲畜前邊，說：『這是大衛的掠物。』

婦女必須向她的鄰居和在她家寄居的女人要銀器、金器、和衣裳，給你們的兒女穿戴；這樣，你們就把埃及人的財物掠奪走了。』

對他們說：『你們讓這一切女的都活着麼？

『領兵的王逃跑了，逃跑了！』在家裏的美麗婦女分得了掠物。

她比紅寶石寶貴；你一切所喜愛的都比不上她。

以色列人照摩西的話而行，向埃及人要銀器金器和衣裳。永恆主使人民得到埃及人的好感，以致埃及人將以色列人所要的給了他們，他們就把埃及人的財物掠奪走了。

不；在這一切事上、我們藉着那愛了我們的、倒是得勝有餘了。
