“ But now here are men from Ammon, Moab and Mount Seir, whose territory you would not allow Israel to invade when they came from Egypt; so they turned away from them and did not destroy them.

“ But here are men from Ammon, Moab and Mount Seir. You wouldn’t allow Israel to march in and attack their territory when the Israelites came from Egypt. So Israel turned away from them. They didn’t destroy them.

And now behold, the men of Ammon and Moab and Mount Seir, whom you would not let Israel invade when they came from the land of Egypt, and whom they avoided and did not destroy—

“ And now see what the armies of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir are doing. You would not let our ancestors invade those nations when Israel left Egypt, so they went around them and did not destroy them.

Now here are the Ammonites, Moabites, and the inhabitants of Mount Seir. You did not let Israel invade them when Israel came out of the land of Egypt, but Israel turned away from them and did not destroy them.

Now behold, the sons of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir, whom You did not allow Israel to invade when they came out of the land of Egypt( for they turned aside from them and did not destroy them),

And now, here are the people of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir— whom You would not let Israel invade when they came out of the land of Egypt, but they turned from them and did not destroy them—

And now, behold, the children of Ammon and Moab and mount Seir, whom thou wouldest not let Israel invade, when they came out of the land of Egypt, but they turned aside from them, and destroyed them not;

Now the Ammonites, Moabites, and men from Mount Seir are coming! When Israel came from the land of Egypt, you did not allow them to invade these lands. They bypassed them and did not destroy them.

Now, behold, the children of Ammon and Moab and Mount Seir, whom you would not let Israel invade when they came out of the land of Egypt, but they turned away from them, and didn’t destroy them;

你要吩咐人民說：“你們的兄弟以掃的子孫，住在西珥，你們現在要經過他們的境界；他們必懼怕你們，所以你們要十分謹慎。不要與他們爭執；他們的地，連腳掌那麼大的一塊，我都不給你們，因為我已經把西珥山賜給以掃作產業。

你走近亞捫人面前的時候，不可敵視他們，也不可與他們爭執；亞捫人的地我不賜給你們作產業，因為我已經把那地賜給了羅得的子孫作產業。

耶和華對我說：‘你不可敵視摩押人，也不可與他們爭戰；他們的地我不賜給你作產業，因為我已經把亞珥賜給了羅得的子孫作產業。

求你容我們從你的地經過；我們不走過田地和葡萄園，也不喝井裡的水，我們只走大路，不偏左也不偏右，直到走過了你的境地。”以東王對使者說：“你不可從我這裡經過，免得我帶著刀出來攻擊你。”以色列人對他說：“我們要走大路上去，我們和牲畜若是喝了你的水，我必照價付你；不求別的事，只求你容我們步行經過。”以東王說：“你不可經過。”他就率領很多人出來，要用強硬的手攻擊以色列人。這樣，以東王不肯讓以色列人從他的境內經過，以色列人就離開他去了。

對他說：“耶弗他這樣說：‘以色列人並沒有奪取過摩押地和亞捫人的土地。以色列人從埃及上來的時候，是走過曠野到紅海，到了加低斯；就派遣使者去見以東王，說：求你讓我們經過你的領土。以東王卻不答應；又派遣使者去見摩押王，摩押王也不肯；以色列人就住在加低斯。以後，他們走過曠野，繞過以東地和摩押地，到了摩押地的東邊，在亞嫩河那邊安營；他們並沒有進入摩押境內，因為亞嫩河是摩押的邊界。

後來，摩押人、亞捫人和一些米烏尼人（按照《馬索拉文本》，“米烏尼人”作“亞捫人”；現參照《七十士譯本》的一些文本翻譯；參代下26:7），一同來攻擊約沙法。

當他們開始歡呼讚美的時候，耶和華就派出伏兵，擊殺那前來攻打猶大人的亞捫人、摩押人和西珥山的人，他們就被擊潰了。
