In Jerusalem also, Jehoshaphat appointed some of the Levites, priests and heads of Israelite families to administer the law of the Lord and to settle disputes. And they lived in Jerusalem.

In Jerusalem, Jehoshaphat chose some Levites and priests. He also chose some leaders of Israelite families. He appointed all of them to apply the law of the Lord fairly. He wanted them to decide cases. He wanted them to settle matters between people. All those judges lived in Jerusalem.

Moreover, in Jerusalem Jehoshaphat appointed certain Levites and priests and heads of families of Israel, to give judgment for the Lord and to decide disputed cases. They had their seat at Jerusalem.

In Jerusalem, Jehoshaphat appointed some of the Levites and priests and clan leaders in Israel to serve as judges for cases involving the Lord’s regulations and for civil disputes.

Jehoshaphat also appointed in Jerusalem some of the Levites and priests and some of the Israelite family heads for deciding the LORD’s will and for settling disputes of the residents of Jerusalem.

你要听我的劝告，愿上帝与你同在。你要做百姓的代表，把案件奏明上帝，又要教导他们律例和法度，指示他们当行的道、当做的事。此外，要在百姓当中挑选一些敬畏上帝、有才干、诚实、正直、憎恶不义之财的人，派他们做千夫长、百夫长、五十夫长和十夫长，管理百姓。让他们随时为百姓判案，处理小纠纷，遇到大事才由你审理。有他们分担你的责任，你会更轻省。如果你这样做，并且上帝也这样吩咐你，你就能承受得住，百姓也可以平安地回家。”于是，摩西接纳了岳父的建议，依言而行，从百姓中挑选有才干的人，委派他们做千夫长、百夫长、五十夫长和十夫长管理百姓。他们负责随时审理百姓的事，遇到难断的案件就呈到摩西那里，自己则审理普通的事。

利未祭司也要去，因为你们的上帝耶和华拣选他们在祂面前事奉、奉祂的名为人祝福并审理各种纠纷及人身伤害的事。

“如果案件复杂，难以决断，如谋杀、诉讼、人身伤害等，就要把案件带到你们的上帝耶和华选定的地方，交给当值的利未祭司和审判官去审理。你们必须执行他们在耶和华所选择的地方宣告的判决，你们要谨慎遵行他们的一切指示。他们教导你们律法，宣布判决后，你们必须完全执行，丝毫不可偏离。如果有人不肯接受事奉你们上帝耶和华的祭司和审判官的判决，就必须处死他。如此，你们便从以色列除掉了罪恶，使众人得知后心中害怕，不敢再任意妄为。

其中有两万四千人在耶和华的殿里司职，六千人做官长和审判官，

“如果发生纠纷，双方告上法庭，审判官要判明是非。

以斯哈族的基拿尼雅及其众子做官长和士师，为以色列管理圣殿以外的事务。
