So the king of Israel assembled the prophets, four hundred men, and said to them,“ Should we go to battle against Ramoth gilead, or should I refrain?” And they said,“ Go up, for God will hand it over to the king.”

So the king of Israel brought together the prophets— four hundred men— and asked them,“ Shall we go to war against Ramoth Gilead, or shall I not?”“ Go,” they answered,“ for God will give it into the king’s hand.”

So the king of Israel brought 400 prophets together. He asked them,“ Should we go to war against Ramoth Gilead, or not?”“ Go,” they answered.“ God will hand it over to you.”

Then the king of Israel gathered the prophets together, four hundred men, and said to them,“ Shall we go to battle against Ramoth-gilead, or shall I refrain?” And they said,“ Go up, for God will give it into the hand of the king.”

So the king of Israel summoned the prophets, 400 of them, and asked them,“ Should we go to war against Ramoth gilead, or should I hold back?” They all replied,“ Yes, go right ahead! God will give the king victory.”

So the king of Israel gathered the prophets, four hundred men, and asked them,“ Should we go to Ramoth-gilead for war or should I refrain?” They replied,“ March up, and God will hand it over to the king.”

Then the king of Israel gathered the prophets together, four hundred men, and said to them,“ Shall we go to war against Ramoth Gilead, or shall I refrain?” So they said,“ Go up, for God will deliver it into the king’s hand.”

Therefore the king of Israel gathered together of prophets four hundred men, and said unto them, Shall we go to Ramothgilead to battle, or shall I forbear? And they said, Go up; for God will deliver[ it] into the king’s hand.

So the king of Israel assembled 400 prophets and asked them,“ Should we attack Ramoth Gilead or not?” They said,“ Attack! God will hand it over to the king.”

Then the king of Israel gathered the prophets together, four hundred men, and said to them,“ Shall we go to Ramoth Gilead to battle, or shall I forbear?” They said,“ Go up; for God will deliver it into the hand of the king.”

They keep saying to those who despise Me,‘ The Lord has said,“ You will have peace” ’; And as for everyone who walks in the stubbornness of his own heart, They say,‘ Disaster will not come on you.’

For the time will come when they will not tolerate sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance with their own desires,

Also among the prophets of Jerusalem I have seen a horrible thing: The committing of adultery and walking in deceit; And they strengthen the hands of evildoers, So that no one has turned back from his wickedness. All of them have become to Me like Sodom, And her inhabitants like Gomorrah.

Therefore I will give their wives to others, Their fields to new owners; Because from the least even to the greatest Everyone is greedy for gain; From the prophet even to the priest, Everyone practices deceit.They have healed the brokenness of the daughter of My people superficially, Saying,‘ Peace, peace,’ But there is no peace.

And the beast was seized, and with him the false prophet who performed the signs in his presence, by which he deceived those who had received the mark of the beast and those who worshiped his image; these two were thrown alive into the lake of fire, which burns with brimstone.

This is what the Lord God says:“ Woe to the foolish prophets who are following their own spirit and have seen nothing!Israel, your prophets have been like jackals among ruins.You have not gone up into the breaches, nor did you build up a stone wall around the house of Israel to stand in the battle on the day of the Lord.They see deceit and lying divination, those who are saying,‘ The Lord declares,’ when the Lord has not sent them; yet they wait for the fulfillment of their word!Did you not see a false vision and tell a lying divination when you said,‘ The Lord declares,’ but it is not I who have spoken?” ’ ”Therefore, this is what the Lord God says:“ Because you have spoken deceit and have seen a lie, therefore behold, I am against you,” declares the Lord God.“ So My hand will be against the prophets who see false visions and utter lying divinations. They will have no place in the council of My people, nor will they be written down in the register of the house of Israel, nor will they enter the land of Israel, so that you may know that I am the Lord God.It is definitely because they have misled My people by saying,‘ Peace!’ when there is no peace. And when anyone builds a wall, behold, they plaster it over with whitewash;so tell those who plaster it over with whitewash, that it will fall. A flooding rain will come, and you, hailstones, will fall, and a violent wind will break out.Behold, when the wall has fallen, will you not be asked,‘ Where is the plaster with which you plastered it?’ ”Therefore, this is what the Lord God says:“ I will make a violent wind break out in My wrath. There will also be in My anger a flooding rain and hailstones to consume it in wrath.So I will tear down the wall which you plastered over with whitewash and hurl it down to the ground, so that its foundation is exposed; and when it falls, you will perish in its midst. And you will know that I am the Lord.So I will expend My wrath on the wall and on those who have plastered it over with whitewash; and I will say to you,‘ The wall is gone and those who plastered it are gone,along with the prophets of Israel who prophesy to Jerusalem, and who see a vision of peace for her when there is no peace,’ declares the Lord God.

Because you disheartened the righteous with falsehood when I did not cause him pain, but you have encouraged the wicked not to turn from his wicked way to keep him alive,

Now Elisha said to the king of Israel,“ What business do you have with me? Go to your father’s prophets and your mother’s prophets.” But the king of Israel said to him,“ No, for the Lord has called these three kings together to hand them over to Moab.”

and said to Jeremiah the prophet,“ Please let our pleading come before you, and pray for us to the Lord your God for all this remnant— since we have been left only a few out of many, just as your own eyes now see us—that the Lord your God will tell us the way in which we should walk, and the thing that we should do.”

Now then, send orders and gather to me all Israel at Mount Carmel, together with 450 prophets of Baal and four hundred prophets of the Asherah, who eat at Jezebel’s table.”

Then a spirit came forward and stood before the Lord and said,‘ I will entice him.’ And the Lord said to him,‘ How?’He said,‘ I will go out and be a deceiving spirit in the mouths of all his prophets.’ Then He said,‘ You shall entice him, and you will also prevail. Go out and do so.’

Her leaders pronounce judgment for a bribe, Her priests teach for pay, And her prophets divine for money. Yet they lean on the Lord, saying,“ Is the Lord not in our midst? Catastrophe will not come upon us.”

Now in the same year, in the beginning of the reign of Zedekiah king of Judah, in the fourth year, in the fifth month, Hananiah the prophet the son of Azzur, who was from Gibeon, spoke to me at the house of the Lord in the sight of the priests and all the people, saying,“ This is what the Lord of armies, the God of Israel says:‘ I have broken the yoke of the king of Babylon.Within two years I am going to bring back to this place all the vessels of the Lord’s house, which Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon took from this place and brought to Babylon.I am also going to bring back to this place Jeconiah the son of Jehoiakim, king of Judah, and all the exiles of Judah who went to Babylon,’ declares the Lord,‘ for I will break the yoke of the king of Babylon.’ ”Then Jeremiah the prophet spoke to the prophet Hananiah in the sight of the priests and in the sight of all the people who were standing at the house of the Lord,and Jeremiah the prophet said,“ Amen! May the Lord do so; may the Lord fulfill your words which you have prophesied, to bring back the vessels of the Lord’s house and all the exiles, from Babylon to this place.Yet hear now this word which I am going to speak so that you and all the people can hear it!The prophets who were before me and before you from ancient times also prophesied against many lands and against great kingdoms regarding war, disaster, and plague.As for the prophet who prophesies of peace, when the word of the prophet comes to pass, then that prophet will be known as one whom the Lord has truly sent.”Then Hananiah the prophet took the yoke from the neck of Jeremiah the prophet and broke it.Hananiah spoke in the sight of all the people, saying,“ This is what the Lord says:‘ Even so within two full years I will break the yoke of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon from the neck of all the nations.’ ” Then Jeremiah the prophet went his way.Then the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah after Hananiah the prophet had broken the yoke from the neck of Jeremiah the prophet, saying,“ Go and speak to Hananiah, saying,‘ This is what the Lord says:“ You have broken the yokes of wood, but in their place you have made yokes of iron.”For this is what the Lord of armies, the God of Israel says:“ I have put a yoke of iron on the neck of all these nations, to serve Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon; and they shall serve him. And I have also given him the animals of the field.” ’ ”Then Jeremiah the prophet said to Hananiah the prophet,“ Listen now, Hananiah: the Lord has not sent you, and you have made this people trust in a lie.Therefore, this is what the Lord says:‘ Behold, I am going to remove you from the face of the earth. This year you are going to die, because you spoke falsely against the Lord.’ ”So Hananiah the prophet died in the same year, in the seventh month.

Then King Zedekiah sent word and had Jeremiah the prophet brought to him at the third entrance that is in the house of the Lord; and the king said to Jeremiah,“ I am going to ask you something; do not hide anything from me.”And Jeremiah said to Zedekiah,“ If I tell you, will you not certainly put me to death? Besides, if I give you advice, you will not listen to me.”But King Zedekiah swore to Jeremiah in secret, saying,“ As the Lord lives, who made this life for us, I certainly will not put you to death, nor will I hand you over to these men who are seeking your life.”So Jeremiah said to Zedekiah,“ This is what the Lord God of armies, the God of Israel says:‘ If you will indeed surrender to the officers of the king of Babylon, then you will live, this city will not be burned with fire, and you and your household will survive.But if you do not surrender to the officers of the king of Babylon, then this city will be handed over to the Chaldeans; and they will burn it with fire, and you yourself will not escape from their hands.’ ”Then King Zedekiah said to Jeremiah,“ I am in fear of the Jews who have deserted to the Chaldeans, for they may hand me over to them, and they will abuse me.”But Jeremiah said,“ They will not turn you over. Please obey the Lord in what I am saying to you, so that it may go well for you and you may live.But if you keep refusing to surrender, this is the word which the Lord has shown me:‘ Behold, all of the women who have been left in the palace of the king of Judah are going to be brought out to the officers of the king of Babylon; and those women will say,“ Your close friends Have misled and overpowered you; While your feet were sunk in the mire, They turned back.”They are also going to bring out all your wives and your sons to the Chaldeans, and you yourself will not escape from their hand, but will be seized by the hand of the king of Babylon, and this city will be burned with fire.’ ”Then Zedekiah said to Jeremiah,“ Let no one know about these words, and you will not die.But if the officials hear that I have talked with you and come to you and say to you,‘ Tell us now what you said to the king and what the king said to you; do not hide it from us and we will not put you to death,’then you are to say to them,‘ I was presenting my plea before the king, not to make me return to the house of Jonathan to die there.’ ”Then all the officials came to Jeremiah and questioned him. So he reported to them in accordance with all these words which the king had commanded; and they stopped speaking with him, since the conversation had not been overheard.So Jeremiah stayed in the courtyard of the guard until the day that Jerusalem was captured.

If someone walking after wind and falsehood Had lied and said,‘ I will prophesy to you about wine and liquor,’ He would become a prophet to this people.

For you have only deceived yourselves; for it is you who sent me to the Lord your God, saying,“ Pray for us to the Lord our God; and whatever the Lord our God says, tell us so, and we will do it.”

When he came to the king, the king said to him,“ Micaiah, should we go to battle against Ramoth gilead, or should I refrain?” He said,“ Go up and succeed, for they will be handed over to you!”
